If this project is still going along, the occasional post here would be very welcome. I'm anxious to know that this project has not been abandoned, and that we'll see the true version of Persona some day.

I am still here~ Spring break starts today, midterms have finished. I now have some more free time. However, between translating Persona plus playing Shin Megami Tensei Imagine (Free MMORPG), I have been cramped for time. I hope to get more Persona translating in this week~ // For those that don't know about SMT:I (MMORPG) http://www.megatenonline.com/

I've been looking into the Persona games (and all MegaTen games) recently, but after hearing about the terrible Persona 1 localisation I was disheartened. After seeing this project and Gemini's P2:IS project I am overjoyed that I may yet be able to play through the Persona series completely. My thanks goes out to everyone working on both projects.
That being said, I would like to help in any way I can, with either project. I'm a Japanese student (not fluent yet) but I could do boring translations like items or menus. I could proofread translated script for errors with English grammar or spelling; I consider myself to be fairly well-acquainted with the language. Unfortunately, I have no hacking experience so unless you guys can point me towards the tomes of hacking knowledge and coddle me along while I learn I think I would be more of a hindrance in that area. So if there's anything I can do to help, let me know!

Items and menus are the fun parts (especially hunting down oddities). The boring part is dialogue; there’s so gosh-darn much of it!

Yeah, but it's still a pretty mundane task.

Sorry for the long delay of information guys, but here's the update on the font tables that I've workin' on. The Hiragana and Katakana seems complete, including the roman. But here's the bad news, some of the Kanji fonts seem like in a random order. Meaning that i could assume how much of the kanji fonts that has been used, but i don't know the order of the kanji's yet. I've found a way to overcome that by taking a lot of screenshots of the game and identifying them.
After that i input it on the tabular, so far it's about 30% complete assuming that no longer kanji addresses are found in the later identification. Here's an example..... if I've identified a kanji addresses from the smallest address, take an example like 01, the largest was 63, that's about a 99 kanji fonts from 01 to 63 and 97 more needs to be identified, now if a longer addresses are found like 73 or more in the later identifying process...... that means there are still 18 more to add up to 97. And believe me, there's a heck a lot of kanji in this game than I've predicted before.
Well, i'm still identifying the rest, still rollin' those screenshots.
One thing I've respected Gemini most was how did he manage to identify all those kanji on Persona 2 : IS ? There has to be a lot of kanji in that game right?
Inferiority Has Embraced Me :banghead:
Well, luckily there's a Persona : Trinity Souls anime that entertain me during my stressful times, Class A Persona Rulez .

I agree with Bores, there's a lot of awesome guys who will help you in the "script help" thread...and they really know their japanese, asking for their help will make this much more easier. Although, I really wish a dedicated translator will show up for this project.... you know anyone interested Grey..? there are about 2300 kanji, all identified manually. -__-; That must've been fun to do. >_<

As for a translator, you could always set up a wiki with the dumped text blocks and just make some style rules and have people translate as much or little as they want. Other projects have done this successfully (DQ5 remake translation for PS2 is one). You would just need someone to proofread it periodically and fix errors in style and grammar.

Did anyone manage to dump the script yet?
I been figuring out the SMT type game system lately. I now feel more comfortable when I translate Persona. Before I wasn't entirely sure how to translate a lot of the demonology, but I got to level 60 in Shin Megami Tensei Online. I feel a lot more comfortable with demon types, moves, elemental types etc.
If anyone was able to dump the script please let me know~ my interest in Persona 1 has been sparked again~~
If not, I am going to try an figure out how to do the hacking myself since I have the time now. Not sure if anyone is interested any more, but I will do this for me.

If you're asking whether there's anyone interested in the final product, then I can assure you that there's at least one person who is looking forward to this. I wish there was some way I could offer some help, but I don't have either the hacking skills or the Japanese language skills to do anything significant.
