Here I sit, and play guitar...
Today was rather productive. Well, for my standards anyway. I woke up around 9:30 and, after fumbling around for a while, finally decided to try and play my guitar. I
did manage to tune it. It is most likely completely out of tune, but at this point, I'm just happy if it makes something that resembles a note when I pick the strings. Most of the
time, when I'm trying to fret a chord, my fingers end up rubbing up on the other strings and make them sound really, really awful. I think I'm just holding the neck wrong or
just have to figure out the right way to curl my fingers, so I'm gonna try again tomorrow. If you play guitar and know what I'm doing wrong or can offer a few tips, let me know
so I don't end up wasting my time (and hurting my hand) trying to curl my fingers in some unhuman way.
After guitar, I ate a sandwich and watched the price is right. All
six contestants were winners (except for one of them, but the sound guy screwed up and they had to give her the prize...). That naturally progressed onto me working on this very
site. I did a bunch of work last night and, after numerous tries, got the code tweeked just right so a user can actually log-in. Yay. Today, I got the whole log-out thing working
and got the 'profile viewer' thing to partially work. I've gotta add more features (mainly, a dropbox of all the users), but it should go smoothly from this point on (hahaha...).
So, after all that (actually, I coded on-and-off throughout the day), I had to do yardwork. This involved tearing down a whole lot of vines. While doing so, I discovered two things.
Firstly, there was some kind of box put up by the phone company that the vines had completely covered. I don't know how long it's been there, but it was certainly hard to (accidentally)
pull out of the brick wall. I thought it was some kind of nest at first (there are tons of bugs in those vines), so I jumped back pretty far. After actually looking at, I figured
out it was just a stupid phone box. I promptly went inside to check the phone lines. Still good... Secondly, I discovered that praying mantises (and quite possibly all of the mantis
family) have kung-fu action grip. Allow me to explain. There was a praying mantis (like I said, a ton of bugs...) on one of the vines. Now, bugs do creep me out to an
extent. Like, if I see one, I jump a little. Normally, I can just tell myself, "hey, goober, just crush the thing," and I'll get on with the job. Large bugs, however, are much more
intimidating. Like, what if they jump on my face or something? I don't know if these things bite or suck or cling or something. So, being the usual wuss that I am, I grabbed a
stick and proceeded to whack the mantis off of the vine. The mantis flew horizontally for a good 6 feet and then just grabbed onto another vine. That's not just grip, that's kung-fu
action grip. At this point, I didn't know what to expect. It just sorta looked at me (at least, I think it was looking at me). I was gonna poke it with the stick again and it ran away
with full stealth-ninja action. I didn't know where the sucker was, so I kept on working. About an hour later (i had taken a break), I was working around the area where it had hidden
itself. I found it. Since hitting it with a stick invoked it's innate ninja abilities, I decided to try and lure it onto another piece of vine that I had ripped off and place it down
near my cat, who was sitting nearby. The mantis was far too smart for my plan, and proceeded to run up. It eventually got out of my reach, so I just kept working. About a mintute later,
it dropped down in full ninja stance (mantis stance, of course) and was going for my face. Luckily, I managed to see it just before it got me and I jumped back. I'm still not sure where
it landed, but I know this thing isn't over.
I eventually stopped working on the vines and took a brief nap. My dad woke me up and we left to go get lenses for my glasses. Since I want my new lenses in my current set of glasses, I have
to resort to using my old glasses (see webcam). I don't particularly like this set, but it'll have to do for a week or two.
That basically sums up my day. Things have come full circle and I'm working on the site again now (i guess that's full circle and little more, actually...). Soon I'll get tired and frustrated
at php and end up passing out on my couch/bed. Ah yes...that's gonna be sweet...

Clench your fist up in rage...
I spent all this time working on getting this design up and running, but it still seems all empty. Luckily, the server I'm hosted on allows for php and mySQL stuff. Can
you say dynamic content? Hopefully you can, or else something must be wrong with your mouth. Hope that gets better soon. Then you can say it like the rest of us...
Anyway, I'm working on setting up some kind of user system so that people can login and post some stuff on certain pages. I'm also working on other pages. As I type this,
I've just figured out how to let people login and logout. I still gotta do a lot of stuff, but now I know that I can definately make this work. You'll see. It'll be coo.
Just out of curiousity, if you read this page, IM me at UglyJoe1 right away (i.e. right now) so I can know if anyone other than me reads it. I'm almost always online, so there
should be no problems.
By the way, Yellowcard 0wnz.

Bosco...
I guess you could call this the first official post. My domain name finally started working a couple days ago, so now I'm good to go. Unfortunately, this wait
has given me time to become less enthusiastic about the whole website thing, so I'm gonna try and get more 'nothing' accomplished so that I'll get back into the groove of
making webpages and content and stuff.
In life news, I still don't have a job. Still. I'm close to getting a job at the electronics department at Walmart. How close? Pee in a cup drug test close.
Even if I get the job, I'll probably only get to work for about a month and get three paychecks if I'm lucky. But at least I'll have a job for a little while. Anyway, since
summer is about half way over for me, I think I'll break out the old 'summer to do' list and see what I've actually done.
Summer Goals:
- learn to play guitar
I've been meaning to do this for a long while. Anyone who read NoisE knows that I've been kicking myself for not learning it yet. Well, I have gotten my hands on a
free guitar, but am yet to actually learn how to use it. If I don't learn it, I'm sure I'll end up kicking myself even harder next school year. Oh well.
If you're bored, feel free to IM me and tell me to learn it.
- get job/earn money
I tried. As mentioned earlier, I'm closer to getting one, but it's still no guarantee. Time will tell.
- buy obscure cds
CDs bought since I've been home: NONE. I downloaded an album by Doves which is quite a good album. I'm pretty sure I put this one on the list so I'd go out and buy Art Toi?'s
album...or was it Unwound's double album...either way, I still don't have any.
- get real webspace
Check.
- help build church in some way
I was planning on helping to set up something electronical, but since they aren't going to start building 'till later, I won't get a chance to help out at all. Oh well.
- build church website
I had started to do this before I left for college last year. The pastor even mentioned it in church. I've felt kinda guilty for not doing it. I should probably start working
on it again. Nag me about this one, too.
- go to that street where Pete and Pete was filmed
This one was a late addition. Since I was really bored at the end of the quarter, I was watching some Pete & Pete episodes that I had lying around on my computer. I slowed
down the credits in order to check who did all the music (Polaris did most. Others mentioned/thanked included Fat Tulips and Drop Thirteens, all good bands.) and, while doing
so, I manged to discover the street that most of the show was filmed. At least that's what I think. Why else would they thank an entire street? Anyway, it's in Jersey, so
I figured I could get a ride there from someone(s). Any takers?
Hrm...I really haven't done much. I'd better hurry.
Meanwhile, on a completely unrelated note, they brought back Razzles! First it's candy...then it's gum! I used to get these things all the time, but Wawa stopped selling
them. Jerks. They finally brough them back though (with a new wrapper...see webcam). I mean, what other food starts out as multi-colored candy and ends up as a mass of oddly-flavored
brown gum? I believe there's only one. And it's back. Oh yeah.

stuff stuff stuff stuff...
No more ear pussing. That's good. I just let it go for a few days and then yanked this big chunk of scab out of there. Seems to be fine now. Now, if that didn't turn
you away in disgust, I'll continue ranting on about my life.
To my suprise, I actually did stuff. It all started on sunday night, about 3am. Nikiki IMed me and
wanted to know if I wanted to go to Hooters with her and some of her friends. An invitation to Hooters? I couldn't really turn that down. I never found out why she wanted
to take her friend to hooters for her birthday...her friend being a girl and all.
Anyway, after a late start (left at 9:30 instead of ~7:00) I hopped into the car and we
made our way to Atlantic City...and Hooters. Once we started moving, I discovered that rap/r&b/hiphop was being played on the car stereo. This was a very bad omen. I didn't
say all too much 'cause I didn't know all of the people there, but I hoped that something less...crappy...would be put on instead. In the mean time, I just rolled down
my window and let the wind mask the music. The music did change, but it just bounced around more and more crap. Now, I try to keep an open mind..especially on music..but
at one point I snapped. Someone had said that they didn't understand how people could say any kind of music sucked, and I went off. I think it was my, "all music is crap" theory.
"For every song ever made, there is at least one person who says that it sucks. Therefore, all music is crap." Something like that. It's really poor logic, i know, but it
usually ends a 'which music sucks and which music doesn't suck' conversation. I hate it when people try and state their opinion as fact and will go to the extent of arguing
to show that your opinion is 'wrong'. In her defense, she didn't actually argue much of anything, but I had a feeling it was coming and the onslaught of crappy music was making
me a bit edgy. "Sorry."
Anyway, we eventually made it to Atlantic City and we got to Hooters. I had been told before that the place doesn't live up to it's name. They were
right. I mean, it wasn't bad, but more boobage would have been nice. Hooters was a rather loud and silly place, and I think you all know what goes on there anyway, so
I'll just skip to the post-Hooters part. We basically just walked until the boards ended. Then walked back. Walking there was pretty boring, but the way back was a bit more
interesting. We decided to walk on the beach a bit. You know...'cause it was there and all. So, as we were walking, there was this baby shark or dolphin or something. Naturally,
I backed away a bit and laughed at it. I mean, it has the whole ocean to swim in, and it gets stuck at the shore. If you can't see the humour in that, something is wrong with you.
Once my laughter died down, I walked closer towards it to try and see what it was. It was bigger than I thought it was, but what was it going to do? Flap wildly at me? Just as
I was getting close to it, it managed to swim away. Oh well.
Once we got back to the boards, we spotted some shirtless guy with a bird on his shoulder...then he spotted us. I
never got too close to this guy, but the people in our party who did assured me that the guy was wasted. He persisted on talking to us. I was laughing most of the time, but I
did find out that the bird's name was 'ganja' and that the bird did, in fact, crap on the guys back. At that point, we went to go use the swings so that 'bird-man' could get
far, far away from us.
Nothing really happened after that. We got back to the car and hung out on top of the parking garage for a while and then we drove back. Nikiki got
sorta lost, so it took us a few hours to get back. The music situation, yet again, made me want to kill things. This time there was both britney spears and christina agiularia (or
however she insists on spelling that). That sucked hardcore. I used to say that britney spears couldn't sing without having listened to much of any of her 'songs'...now i can say
for sure that she can't sing to save her life. No wonder she lip-syncs at all her concerts. Bah. Eventually the soundtrack to some teen movie that i never saw got put in and
was played for hours. There was a song from Cold on there and some other song that didn't suck too bad. Eventually I ended up at Dennys with Nikiki and wasted money on some
awful breakfast. That was about it.
Hrm...doing stuff makes ranting easier. But is it really worth it...?
Meh.

the flags were all dead atop their poles...
Well, my ear is still pussing and junk. It kinda sucks. Oh, and i got this in my mailbox:
Yeah. Click on it. Buy their cd and stuff (when it comes out). Meanwhile, it's been all stormy recently. Since my computer's have been off because of it, I decided
to play Final Fantasy 7. I never got too far in it, so it's still new to me. It's more fun than I remember. The whole situation that Tifa and Aeris put Cloud in is kind
of humorous. I try to make Cloud be nice to Tifa, but not piss off Aeris. They both seem to get pissed at me. Oh well. Too bad I know that Aeris is going to die, or
else it'd be more fun...well, until she dies...that would be sad, i guess. Yeah, sad. At least I don't know exactly what is wrong with Cloud. That keeps some mystery
to the story.
Also, to help try and cure this ever-present boredom of mine, my Mom went through the basement where she works and found old computer stuff. She brought it home as I
was mowing the lawn. The back of her Jimmy was full of old computer stuff. I was quite happy (and sweaty...but that's because of the lawn and stupid jersey weather). So
now I have a c64 with 5.25 drive and printer and an apple //e with moniter and two 5.25 drives. And some extra stuff. The problem is that I don't have any disks for them.
Actually, I don't have any 5.25 disks at all. My Dad informed me that there's an old computer lying around where he works that has a 5.25 in it and a few disks; and that
I could go in and yoink it out of there. With any luck, I can get these things up and running to their fullest potential.
