oo, even better, I still don't know if I like the japanese reflection but it seems like everyone else does anyways.
very nice job on the main title though as before!
why is Seiken Densetsu 3 ever only been romanized or incorrectly named "Secret of Mana 2" <-- that one bothers be because it's the third title in the series, not the second.

Because Secret of Mana is really Seiken Densetsu 2?

I thought these were just concepts drawn up in Photoshop . I figured the reflection is going to be of whatever the top half ends up being changed into.

Because it was going to be translated and then released here in the states as SoM2. I dislike the title, though.

This time I reduced the japanese and moved it to be centered. It's slightly darkened too. That one looks much better. That's actually what I was going to suggest to do with the Japanese (make it smaller) but apparently you beat me to it. =D ~DS

Ok! Now that's looking good. The dragon tale on the 'g' may be overdoing it. If people like it though, I'd gladly keep it in.

I actually kinda like the dragon G. It adds a bit of flair to an otherwise bland title. I'm definitely in favor of keeping the small white Japanese text somewhere. What about shrinking it some more and putting it on the right where the original English was?

I agree about the Japanese.
Though, I think perhaps you might want to make the Dragon a bit smaller. It's almost as big as the ED logo, and it shouldn't be the center of attention, I think. Though it does make it look pretty cool.

I wouldn't put a lot in the US localizations of that time, but I get your point, still irksome to me, especially since the mana titles since have all had their own original names, except for Dawn of Mana which was just Seiken Densetsu 4 in japan right? Ok! Now that's looking good. The dragon tale on the 'g' may be overdoing it. If people like it though, I'd gladly keep it in.
yes I like the g,

i like the G-tail dragon. Enough that I think it should replace the ED emblem, since that just looks dumb.

I'll leave it up to FlashPV on if he wants to do anything further with it or not. I'm OK with it the way it is.
Flash, hopefully you only used existing colors for the text coloring. All of the green text uses a single 16-color palette in the game while the center ED circle logo uses a second one. I'd prefer not to have to do any palette hacking or tilemap attribute work. It should be unnecessary. Although, as long as it's limited to just 16 colors, it won't take much effort if I had to change them. I will have to add the gray color for the Japanese text anyway.
I also confirmed the reflection at the bottom doesn't need extra tiles. It doesn't even map any of the top tiles there. It's actually done via HDMA effects only (background offset manipulation $210f/$2110 and the main screen register $212c). I'm not 100% sure how it exactly works, but it doesn't matter. Whatever is on the top will be 'reflected'. Somehow it gets vertically crunched a bit down there too. Maybe if I'm feeling adventurous, I'll play around with the HDMA values and see what happens.
The copyright text on the bottom is done via OAM sprites which is more annoying to work with than background tiles. Only if I'm feeling motivated will I bother with that I think.

I don't really want to remove the ED emblem but maybe you'll prefer it smaller?

Oi, finally managed to get the registration to go through. Okay, I can say this in person then. FlashPV, I managed to recreate the actual gradient used in the Japanese title screen to about 95% accuracy. I've put it up here http://users.erols.com/faraone/ed/ed_gradient.png in case you want to do anything with it. It's based on 18 palette entries rather than 16 due to an oddity I'm hoping Nightcrawler can resolve for me (I posted on the TransCorp thread about it), but the greens should all be correct. I feel kind of awkward competing over a title screen hack, but I also have my own version. I found it interesting that Seiken Densetsu 3 was just being discussed, as I love the work that was done on the title screen in that translation, and that's the basis of my work. I tried to create not a new title screen, but a translated version of the Japanese title screen. Edit: Oh, and here's my tilemap. http://users.erols.com/faraone/ed/ed_tilemap.pngBased on my analysis of the title, I believe this to be the correct mapping. Green are existing tiles, and purple are likely null or mapped to the same blank tile. Anything falling outside the green will likely require the screen to be re-mapped. There is apparently some overlap between the title tiles and the logo tiles, but I'm not sure how the game is handling that, as they all seem to be rendered on BG layer 2. Edit again: Actually, the two overlap tiles probably use the same palette as the logo. It has multiple green shades in addition to the yellow and red.

I like the G dragon, but it could look better facing to the left, fusing it's neck and the tail of the G together
