Because it still looks like ass thanks to the low detail of the other elements in there? I've also posted all the behind-the-scene info in the FF4 Research Board, just in case.

And the font looks ugly in fixed-width, but I guess that will be fixed later.

It's more the font than anything (the slight garbage in it). I remember seeing some ugly monster graphics in some of the older pics, which I guess is minor in comparison to what you've gotten done.

Yeah, that font is just a temporary solution for something that will come later. I'm planning to suppress the entire BG3 rendering used for the HUD and replace it with brand new code, which is more or less what TOSE did for FF4a. EDIT: Just like I was saying...

Looks spiffy Gemini. The backgrounds make it look like a half-decent GBA game.

With thanks to mopoz for the compression bypass. Font isn't final - one of my chan regulars suggested Landstalker's font, which I think is a GOOD IDEA given the games' relationship. That style is what I was going for anyway when I picked the current font (it's from Twisted Tales of Spike McFang.)

Looking better and better every time I view the thread, man. I'd probably move the PC shit over to the right, though, if you're not going to put in ATB gauges, so you can reserve space for the primary action menus without overwriting monster names.

Battle backgrounds redone using the PSP assets (conveniently edited to fit or to look better in a lower resolution): And now it's also dynamically loading each, instead of hard-coding the entire process. Still need to fix HDMA scrolling used in Zeromus' BG. that's awesome. Also was it always supposed to be Lidia instead of Rydia. Can't imagine how I've missed that all these years. Do you have any plans to try to down-sample anything besides the backgrounds?

Lydia makes more sense than Lidia, but they're both real names. Rydia, however, is not.

リディア
Ridia, Lidia, meh. I think Lydia was the name of some place, or some time of currency... as far as references go.

I've always gone with Rydia simply because it looks more aesthetically appealing to me. But Lidia is an actual name. It's another "Terra" vs "Tina" argument, really. I like Rydia because it looks exotic, but it was likely meant to be "Lidia" because to the Japanese, it's an exotic English name. ~DS
