That font was supposed to be used in a 512x480 resolution, not SNES games. :p

PS: Mystic Ark is serious business!

It's an illusion. The characters are a little taller than normal; the width itself is fairly standard for a VWF.
It’s no illusion. Skinniness doesn’t have much to do with absolute width, only relative. I’d be skinny if I were two hands taller, y’know. Wink

If there’s anything I’m really not digging about it, it’s the color. Very uneven, especially with the shadow (compare the word “door” to the word “wall”). Makes baby Goudy cry.

As far as actual problems go, that ‘m’ doesn’t have shadow right under the median, which makes it look strange.

Going through a boring process of trial and error so the weird pointer system matches up with the correct text. Almost got this fortune shop done.

I started working on a Bubble Bobble editor. This is just the beginning. The level and enemy data structures are fairly simple, but there are some quirks I can't get my hands on, like the level A6 which has no top row at all. I can't find the palettes used for the sprites either...

Hey Pennywise, are you going to translate the store names?

Yeah, I figured I'd try to do a fancy font for them if I have enough tiles.

Edit: Heh heh, good times.

Now I got to find the Konami shop.

I can edit the title screen. Which also happens to be a Mode 7 tilemap (hence my earlier question.)

This was bugging me for a while. Wasn't clearing enough tiles, had to fix that.

Edit:

Eek... What happened there? I'm guessing Mode 7 isn't easy to hack (well, considering)?

Standard operating procedure for me. I work up a new title screen, then I copy and paste 8x8 sections of it into the game. Since the tilemap (ordering sequence) is still the same, the tiles are scrambled until I hack the order and make things look right.

Hence, this:

The fact that it was Mode 7 changed nothing. The only difference was the format in which the graphics were saved. The order wasn't compressed or saved in an odd way, so this was a rather routine title screen hack for me.

I'm still going to mess with it a bit. Maybe change the menus so they say "1 Player / 2 Players / Options". Maybe add a Foxhack.net line somewhere.

Um, yes. Tongue

I first found out about it years ago, when I saw it previewed in an issue of Club Nintendo (Mexico's official Nintendo magazine). All they showed was a blurry, grainy screenshot.

Now if ONLY I could also translate Ryuuko No Ken 2... Wink (Not going to happen, the only editor that can touch the font is NAGA, and the title screen's compressed. That and the game just blows. Tongue)
