I'll add one more to the "that's horrible" camp, unless you edit the quote marks to fit with the font... they're too thin.

Also, instead of that weird double-Japanese quote mark for Cecil's name, can you have it conform and be "[CECILNAME]:" Instead? Please? Cheesy

God, those ToS screens sure look ugly with the T E R R A N I G M A effect. I'd suggest you to dig in the code before proceeding any further. Also, isn't the screen of Rebirth from the Ps2 build?

Woah, Gemini.
Of all the people to comment.
A friend of mine told me to hunt you down and ask you about the Symphonia text problem.

I've tried numerous times to fix it but to no avail. Even Cless over at Phantasian Productions doesn't have a clue how to fix it because of the limited tools available for the PS2.

The Rebirth snap is from the PS2 build, I made a menu patch but now I'm doing the PSP as I had been approached by some people who wanted me to join them. I forgot to mention that XD.

Yeah. It's highly illogical to do an ENGLISH translation with JAPANESE quotation marks. It just doesn't make sense. I'd call that an incomplete translation!

I'm also in the looks horrible camp. English translation includes using English punctuation. Things like hearts, music notes, etc are of course exempt, but you've gotta change the quotation marks.

You want my honest opinion on using the Japanese quote mark?

It’s okay, but you’ve got to fix the spacing if you’re gonna use it. It occupies the corner (rather than the center) of a CJK square for a reason. This reason does not change one bit if you change the language. After all, we use space before we use English quotes.

But then again, I think a VWF would benefit the game a lot.

yet another nay on that japanese punctuation. it's absolutely ridiculous. use a colon, or quotation marks, or just the name of the speaker on a line by itself, or something.

additionally, i assume the script shown is just the literal-ish rough draft and is only shown for illustrative purposes?

for the status screen, you'll want to make more squish tiles to make it more natural looking, especially for letter combinations involving i's, t's and l's. see the FF3 NES translation for reference. ideally, rename Mag.Evasion to Mag.Evade and move the left column over to the right one. (i believe this is the same advice i posted last time those screens came up Tongue) also, rename "Ability" to something else, like "Stats"?

last but not least, for the magic screen... is it toad or frog?

A while. All of the text is compressed and I don't have to original compression program I wrote for *that* game. Not really worth it, since I followed suit with DBZ3 and Gaiden. I'll do the same with DBZ2 once I get it finished just for the sake of consistency.
