Oh my... O RLY in Megaman?! First we have noobs and pwnage in Pokemon... and now (or then) this... *sigh* Well, like someone said in the topic about the dev thanking fan translators for Front Mission... that should be a nice argument against haters of this article. :/

I swore there was once an article on Bahamut Lagoon's translation somewhere, and something in EGM or the like about hacking with an intro of Pokemon.

Now the guy's userpage is vandalized and he's calling us puppets, that is, Nightcrawler is controlling us all! Poor guy, I really feel sorry for him. It's one of these fellas you encounter from time to time in your life, real losers that once they find some parcel of power, they turn into childish dictators, believing that what they do is right. Oh, and he answered to my comment suggesting he's going to delete the entire Wikipedia or something Bah, I suggest we write a new article, and instead of submitting the changes to Wikipedia, we'll submit it for peer review to Citizendium.

I think what makes me angry is that the article in question supposably doesn't share a "world view" of fan translations. What world view is what I'd like to know? Fan translations are, quite simply, something that fans of video games do in their free time. Is the rest of the world doing something different? In all honesty, Wikipedia is just about the worst "encyclopedic" resource available. Go here. You'll get better information. Edit: I've actually had professors outright tell me that if they find Wikipedia as a source in any of the writing we give them, they'll just give you a 0 for the paper. Harsh sure, but it's just not a reliable source of information, and more than that, it's not generally "good" information, even from an encyclopedic standpoint (I could qualify this, but I think the fact that ORLY? gets an article is proof enough).

I'm not sure who's more pathetic, this Misterdiscreet guy who gets off on deleting wiki articles or the people who vandalized his page. \

The most funny thing is how everyone says that Wikipedia is shit anyway, but everyone makes such a big fuss about the article being deleted. Ignore them. Let them have their way, it's a waste of time to care. If it stays, two months later someone else will mark it for deletion and the game will continue anew. Do you even realize that you give this Misterdiscreet asshole the biggest credit by paying so much time and attention to him? That's what he wants -_-

I wish the people who vandalized his page would use their time improving the article instead... What only matters in this case is the admin's closing opinion.

Eh.. Talbain, Wikipedia has it's large share of problems, but I still find plenty of CORRECT and valid information there. I certainly wouldn't call it useless at all. It's also the largest one stop source of information on everything that I know of. Why sift through Google results when the answer to many questions can be found at Wikipedia in 30 seconds?
In fact, I still find MUCH more correct information than incorrect information. In fact, I just did some professional lengthy research on Saturated Vapor Pressure, the many equations used, and utilizing it in calculating specific humidity. Many sources were given. And the information there agreed with other well known sources like the NOAA for example. I have also conducted research on materials used in resistors, capacitors, surface mount packages, and all sorts of electronics related topics.
Non professionally, I've used wikipedia many times for programming language information, software available to do certain things etc. if nothing else, the sources cited on wikipedia are useful.
There are plenty of valid and useful things to find on Wikipedia. Don't condemn it in it's entirety because it has some significant problems in certain areas.

Wiki's like everything else community based. Take it with a grain of salt and don't rely on only it, and you'll be fine.
It can be useful for research in a sort of "jumping point" fashion. Not the place to stop, but one of the places to start.

NC: The problem might be more rampant on topics that don't rely on (or have) so much hard facts.
(And hey, no doubleposting! I wonder if mods can ban an admin...?)
