Why in god's name would you use Right instead of Light? Because it's a Rockman game, it should be Right, not Light. Which one ? Wily & Right's Rockboard That's*Paradise or Wily & Rights' Rockboard That's*Paradise I am so confuse!!! LOL!

Wily & Light's Rockboard That's*Paradise
This is the literal translation. no = 's or the possessive. In English, there's two 's. One which is a contraction for "is" as in that is = that's and the other is a possessive like "Mario's Pizza" = "The Pizza of Mario" :P Edit: Just noticed it was "Right". I like Light better.

Wily & Rights Rockboard That's*Paradise or Wily & Right's Rockboard That's*Paradise Which ? how is this even a question? it should be "Right's", not "Rights". (or preferably "Light's", seeing as how he's called Dr. Light everywhere, and this is supported by the main character's family in Rockman.EXE being "hikari" (light).) Why in god's name would you use Right instead of Light? yes. Why in god's name would you use Right instead of Light? Because it's a Rockman game, it should be Right, not Light. no.

Even though I prefer "Rockman" to "Megaman", one of my Three Noble Truths of Translation is "Respect the Target Audience". That is, "go with what's common, not with what's accurate".
...Or if you're hung up on the fact that "Raito" in Japanese begins with an "R", I suggest you take a look at "Death Note". (Interestingly, Light Yagami's given name is given as an alternate reading for the kanji meaning "moon".)

Why in god's name would you use Right instead of Light? Because it's a Rockman game, it should be Right, not Light. While I enjoyed the pun, I have to disagree completely. It's one thing if it were a random character in an unknown game, but this is Megaman we're talking about here! He's officially known as Light in the English speaking world, not Right. It's not like they "localized" it to "Pepé" or something.

I felt I needed to write in response to RedComet's opinion. That's just your opinion, RedComet. I just like Rockman, Forte, Dr. Right and such so much more than their english counterparts, ok ? I do have to admit I do like the name Rockman. The Rock and Roll reference didn't really get pooed because in MM4 they do state his name was Rock before turning into megaman so it is still valid. You're a weird guy who combines with some mysterious alien life form, to turn into... Megaman? How in the hell does that even WORK? :woot!: Anyway, I'll respect your opinion, though mine differs. Hmm true, maybe becuase i hang around slashdot too much and it's use is more like.

Except "Right" vs. "Light" is a matter of romanization. Everything else is a valid point, but "Light" and "Right" are both ライト in katakana. >_>

That's it. I don't care anymore. You're all going to get banned by Nightcrawler. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO DISCUSS TRANSLATIONS, THIS IS A SCREENSHOTS THREAD!
Jesus Christ!

If you really want to stop discussions you'll have to close the screenshots thread. Seems like there's no other way than project threads. <//offtopic>

Who cares if people are having a discussion about something in the screenshots thread? I thought that was the purpose, you post a screenshots, people comment on it, someone else posts a screenshot, etc.
I think you're making a big deal out of nothing.

Let me put it this way. If I make a big deal, I split the offending parts and that's it. But if NIGHTCRAWLER makes a big deal, he bans all of you from this board.
Get it now? If you want to discuss things in that thread, then take it up with HIM, not with me.

I think the idea is when a discussion starts to take on a life of it's own it should have it's own topic, like a plant growing out of a pot. This way it can be brought up again later without continuously hijacking the screenshots thread.

I was wondering why the topic title didn't make any sense. Now I know it does.

I was actually going to post about this earlier when there were only like 4 posts about it, but I know the rules. :police: Anyways, anything other than Wily & Light's Rockboard That's Paradise is just plain wrong! It's ridiculous to suggest removing one of the apostrophes, as that would just be improper English (I guess Capcom fans would be used to it though: ). Also on the subject of Right vs. Light. It's Light, no non-japanophiles will know what you're talking about.

I usually don't bother getting involved in these translation nitpicking sessions, but in this case I'm going to defend using Right, Capcom uses that in all the official Japanese material: (That's the only one I could find, but I know it's used on others) Also, Light's robots are numbered with the prefixed "DRN:" And here it is in Rockman X's warning text: That said, I prefer the American names so I'd rather see a "MegaBoard" localization.
