It also made my day XD In portuguese, and some other latin-derived languages, "Cefca" has the sound of "Sefka", because the letter "C", when before "e" or "i", has the sound of "S". I always thought "Cefca" was downright silly  That's pretty much how I pronounce it too (Mexican Spanish). I've always liked Quefka.  |

Wouldn't Cefka be pronounced the same as Kefka? I really don't think it would matter THAT much, so that fans would be bombarding the translators with hate mail because of it. O.o

man, I still can't beleive it creates controversy either way, I'm from New Guinea and there ARE no c's in the local language, and yet, I find myself not caring. They can call him Satan for all I care, or Krusty.

I'm surpised they didn't change Cayenne's spelling (at least from the manual, haven't played up there yet), though.
I can't be the only one who thought he was named after a shade of blue, upon first playing the game?

Nope.
Cefca is pronounced... Seff-kah. Kefka? Keff-ka. If it's just a matter of pronunciation, then even Moogle is totally wrong, but I can't remember anybody complaining for using the actual spelling: Mōguri. Again, it's not an English/Spanish/whatever name, so stop with this "how would you pronounce it" nonsense.  |

I've pronounced "Cyan" as "kai-an" instead of "see-an" all my life, so it's not much of a problem for me. >_>
"Cayenne" is the official romanization; IMHO, the argument in its favor has more merit than, say, "Cefca". ^_^; To be honest, the only name change in all of Final Fantasy that annoys me is Final Fantasy IV's Gilbert/Edward, and that's mainly because I'm a consistency fiend (Legend of Mana features a character named Gilbert who is an obvious reference to the FFIV character, species aside). That Orthros getting left as Ultros in FFVIA despite appearing with his proper name in FF:DoS, but it doesn't annoy quite as much.

:laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Awesome. I missed that line when I was playing, went back to confirm it was real, then backed up my save and got the second half:   And somewhat related, FF6a's translation is the perfect mix of the original translation and the details it was missing. |

I also like how "SwdTech" became "Bushido".
I'm not sure whether Woolsey's translation was just missing that much stuff or if I was just incapable of getting "character development" back when I last played it, but surprise of surprises, I'm seriously enjoying FFVIA. O_O;
