I havn't seen a blitz miss yet, but I wouldn't be surprised. Autocrossbow and Noiseblaster miss (more often than you want). Even regular physicals miss a bit (quite the annoyance). And why the hell does Plunder (formerly Mug) even consider missing, Locke misses from 1 feet away, on a Tusker to boot, lol.

Back on Blitz, the key combos have been changed. Pummel (renamed to BlazingFist I think) is Left, Left, Left X (then A to enter the attack).

I actually didn't beat Vargas with Blitz, I accidentially beat him with poisoning. VirusBlaster and Poison (yes, Terra can actually learn it that early, look in your esper menu after getting Locke) can poison Vargas, and while I was messing with Blitz, Vargas took 1000+ damage from poisioning and died.

Anyways, on the hack itself, pretty different. Difficulty is upped a bit, I explained about things missing, Terra gets very low HP (cartload of MP though, and you need it). And Edgar's tools (and most other things) are really expensive. Edgar doesn't even come with an AutoCrossbow, you have to buy that as well, for about 1200 Gil. The enemies are pretty tough too, even the Narsh guards put up a fight. You've been warned.

One feature I do like is holding the B button to sprint (you can sprint even faster with SprintShoes/HermesShoes).

I havn't played far yet, I'm currently at the Returned Hideout deciding which relic to get from Bannon.
 Cool

Oh, while I'm still remembering, the Chocobo tutorial's text doesn't get rendered.

Yeah, we caught that one a little too late, it probably should have been listed in the known issues but I guess everyone forgot about it, we were eager to get this out.

Also, you hardcoded 'Locke' into the dialog during the meeting in the Returners' Hideout. And are you *supposed* to get a Ray of Hope from the guy in the back after saying 'no' to Banon once?

with all these new misses, and the evade bug fixed which fixes the blind disability, I know what my most importand stat is going to be. Wink

*UPDATE*

is this for the 1.0 version or the 1.1 version? It loaded with an unheadered version of 1.1 and the hack worked until the first battle and then the screen went black. I tried it with the headered patch and it didn't work at all, so I know that my rom is unheadered, I am going to try version 1.0 but if this doesn't work I'm gonna be a little stuck.

*UPDATE*

1.0 works, I assumed you guys were using 1.1 but I guess that wasn't a very smart assumption. For what it's worth I love the stat changes and battle stuff, great work, and I can't wait to see more.

You don't know how to read, do you. :p They said in the first post of this thread that you needed a 1.0 version of III.

Another issue: Lethe in the dialog, Lete on the river.

[EDIT: If someone could idle on IRC where I can see them [doesn't matter what IRC network], I could report issues as I find them, rather than pretty much one or two per post as I've been doing. >.>]

A location issue, oopsie. Fixable, but annoying to do so.

Due to my connectivity issues I am unable to remain on IRC all day long. Lettuce, well he hates IRC with a passion. You'll never see him (nevermind the fact he's not even registered here either). You could continue to post here as you have or wait until I'm able to get on IRC later in the day. *shrug*

One peculiar thing I noticed at the beginning in Narshe was that whenever I used Magitek moves, it seems to distort sprites on the opposite side of the battle screen. For example, I might use the Fire Beam on a guard, and when the explosion after the beam displays, somone else in the party will get a chunk taken out of him as if he's being hit as well. Occassionally the damage display number will cause this effect as well. Might this just be the emulator's problem or is this a known issue? I'm using Snes9x if it helps.
It's just a minor cosmetic bug in an otherwise good hack, nothing I'm steaming over. Overall great preview, guys. Was more exciting than FF6A, oddly enough.

That's the hardware hitting the sprite limit. Snes9x emulates that properly, Zsnes does not. This minor problem only happens with a couple of battles (the pincer attack comes to mind) and maybe the 2x Guard 2x Vomammoth battle. We're going to avoid that as much as possible, but for some areas it will be unavoidable. Cry Pincer attacks are extremely vulnerable to this sort of limitation, even moreso if you add on the magitek armor.

The enemies were programmed to do that in the original, they just have a little more staying power in this hack. Though I tweaked the AI so they don't specifically target Baboon until a couple rounds into the battle. Rather unlucky for you. Cry

This should be made into some kind of smiley.  Foaming at the mouth due to Banon.

I must say I'm impressed by this hack.. I've only played past Whelk, and I've already noticed quite a few changes I didn't read about in the other thread... the were rats and goblins, and the new music during the Tritoch sequence stand out. (or atleast the new sound of the tune, i like it)

Looking forward to the rest!  Grin

You are the second person to notice the music. The first to notice it here.
