I thought it sounded wrong.. I used to watch the cartoon when I was younger and it was on Saturday morning cartoons.. so I might be able to help a little bit.

You saw the atrocity against all that is holy called CardCaptors. You didn't see Card Captor Sakura. Edit: Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I hate you, but the US version is a travesty of a show and should be forgotten and ignored.

Since the shortened version of his name is "Kero" I'd stick with Keroberos. In most other instances, Kerberos would be the more correct of the two, but that spelling would make his nickname not make as much sense. At least, for the casual player. My two cents

Well I don't really remember the names, but since I know kind of what the show's about I should be able to relearn the names.. but that's only if you need help script polishing and the like.

The entire series was released by... Geneon, I think. I saw the whole show get sold for about fifty bucks during RightStuf's last clearance sale.

Yeah, that's the one. They used to be Pioneer back in the day, though.

The entire series was released by... Geneon, I think. I saw the whole show get sold for about fifty bucks during RightStuf's last clearance sale. Only $50 for all 70 episodes?! ;_; Would've loved to have picked it up for that price, assuming it was the CCS sub version and not the US dub version (I rarely say shows are butchered, but the only show I've seen that got worse treatment than CCS was probably Kyattou Ninden Teyandee). The DVDs are normally $30 a piece for 2-3 episodes. Like hell I'm paying ~$700 for one TV series.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with having 'Kerberos' and 'Kero.' It just seems like you're adding on a diminutive, kinda like "John" and "Johnny." Then again, I know some Japanese, so maybe it only sounds natural to me. (BTW, I sent a response to the translator request...)
I do think that it would be distracting (for me, personally) to have the name be written with a K in some places and a C in others. For what it's worth, I believe that the 'standard' pronunciation is a hard C, so they'd sound the same, but still...
EDIT: Oh, yeah, the other thing - My guess is that a series/game like this is kind of niche (And patched ROMs are *very* niche). So I would guess that a large number of the people who would play a translated ROM would already be familiar with some of the subtleties regarding Kero's name, Japanese phonetics, or both. And in that case, it doesn't really matter much.
Still, I suppose that maintaining consistency with previously released material would be the reasonable thing to do.

Cerberus is the Latin form of the Greek Kerberos. [Chimera and Kimæra likewise.]
The Japanese use the Greek version, apparently. [The Romans stole a lot of Greek culture, unsurprisingly.]
