awesome Smiley Do you know kanji by any chance? That'd be the first stage of the translation - finishing off my table file with all of the kanji in the game. I can do it by hand with OCR software and a lot of patience, but it's usually 5 identified every half hour so I'd be here for quite a while Tongue

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerberus_%28Cardcaptor_Sakura%29

According to Wikipedia, his official name is Cerberus, but he is more commonly known as Kerberos or Kero-chan. In the English version (which apparently everyone hates) he is know as Keroberos or Kero. By the way, Wikipedia has a lot of good background information, good for a translator to check out.

Again Rhys, I don't know much Kanji, but I'm willing to help with some translation, I'm actually taking a Japanese class right now (I'm in 102) but I know a bit more than my current class level because I've taken it before.

Could you try doing the various parts of the title screen for me? That way I can insert a completely english one (it's all one massive compressed block)

I am new but I'm also willing to help Smiley
I've been learning Japanese for 2,5 years now... so if there would be any thing I could help you with I'd glad to do it. (but English isn't my first language and I may not be a good translator...).

Here are some things I've noticed about the game :
It's a game for kids -> most of the "complicated" kanji is explained and their reading is given next to them. /at least in the intro/ example : 世界(せかい) - world
Kerberos is using Kansai dialect so some words and phrases may differ form the official language . He speaks "wai" as he talks of himself. "wai" is one of the forms of "watashi" used by men in Kansai(but it's not a common particle). example: "shimota" (kansai) -> "shimatta" (official Japanese) - "to end doing something"

wow awesome this is my lucky day - three translators all at once

Right, I'll dump all of the kanji and then send you both half would that be fine? I'll try and make them look as clear as I can.

Basically all I need you guys to do with these is write down each kanji symbol into notepad seperated by a new line, then save all of the kanji as a unicode text file and email it back to me.

My email address is rhyscox( at )gmail( dot )com if you don't have it already.

Hi there Rhys, looks like an fun project, so thought I'd pitch in some contribution

You'll have to forgive my absolute newbness, been a bit of a lurker and read some of the getting started docos and all, but other than that I know pretty much jack all about the romhacking process.

Fortunately I'm not a total noob on all fronts; I am a translator, 10+ years Japanese study with about 4 of that spent getting into translation of manga, websites, and other odd bits, so hopefully I can be useful.

I see you've already gotten people working on your table files, but when there's something I can help out with, let me know.

wow that'd be awesome, thanks ichigo - the more the merrier, do you think you could help out with translating graphics and the script? I'll post some graphics up later that I'd like to insert - namely the ones before the script starts.

Once that and the Kanji's all done then I think I'll divide up the script into sections and give everyone different sections to work on.

Smart guy. Writing out lists of kanji isn't much fun, especially when they're 11 pixels square. : (

Anyway, I'm almost done with my part, so I sent it to you. But there's three kanji that I'm not sure on. I'll check them tomorrow, I suppose, but I thought I'd ask you guys first.

Do you know which kanji these are?
