Yeah. The other one is basically the same, though, hacking-wise. I don't know how much text they share, but if both only have around 350kb, then it doesn't really matter.
The VWF was actually pretty cheap. The game supports variable font widths from the start, it just doesn't use it. I just had to add code to dynamically load a width, instead of a fixed 12 pixel.
I wonder if the predecessors were like that, too. If they are, then Atlus' developers are really, really dumb... DemiKids' font looked awful.

I've ripped the enemy sprites from a pirate hack called "Pocket Maero", so far all the sprites are in. I hadda clean up a few of'em. I should have a You Tube video in a few days depends what wrench gets thrown at me...

Recent Screenshots on my Megagirl hack (MM1). These shots were from another rom because I don't want to edit the levels yet. Will import GFX (Not my test level) into my current Megagirl ROM later. Cirno's level (Will have different GFX and level structures soon) Ice Girls Megaman VS. Cirno She jumps and shoots. She Skates Cirno literally killed Megaman

I'm thinking about taking on a pretty daunting side project here... (Have to fix that blue part) (already fixed the green) Thanks to Setz for touching up Barret, and Tifa's Hair. Like I said, this is going to be a side project, so if anyone else wants to get in on this or contribute in any way, I'm totally open to that. I kind of want this to just be a fun thing to work on.

Not to mention it will probably be insanely frustrating. Hence why I'm seeing if anyone wants to contribute. The lack of a CHR ROM, and the fact that I can't use an emulator with a debugger is making it a pain in the ass to find any data. I'll edit this post in a little while with all of the playable character mugshots. *EDIT* Thanks to TGMagus for cleaning up Cid's goggles.

Barret looks like he’s got some sort of skin condition, but at least it’s better than looking like some screencap from some serious-business 80’s anime.

i agree that you should probably try to two-tone barrett's skin like everyone else, instead of having random pixels scattered around. it works as it is, but it could be mistaken for a skin condition

Awesome! Now just fix the insane balance and make the music tolerable and we'll have a playable game!

Well the insane balance is definitely one of the fixes I plan on working on. The only real clue I have towards how to fix it is the stuff on this site: http://www.gshi.org/?s=v2&sys=5&gid=8126 Apparently there's only 5 stats that cover all the characters, but then again that could totally be different when it comes to actually fixing it for good. Then again, if I had a debugger I'd probably know for a fact. If anyone is a lot more resourceful than me and wants to help, let me know. Anyways, priority #1 other than that is making the game actually look like FF7. (Or at least as close as I can get. Midgar is going to be more like a floating Sicilian Pizza).

I thought D posted a cheat file that fixed the level up errors.

They aren't actually errors. The game just has a lot of forced grinding. D's cheat codes just make it faster to level up; well, rather they give you access to the experience bars, and you thus can level up the characters to whatever level you want.

I'd rather figure out how to balance the stats and HP a little more than the exp cheat. I'm assuming you're talking about just giving your characters a ton of XP to start with. I know how to do that cheat-wise also, but it would be kind of odd to have the characters gain like 4 levels after the first fight they are in. If I can just figure out a way to convert cheats into actual offsets (which is why I need a damn debugger) then balancing the game would be really simple I think. It's really just a matter of boosting their stats up to a usable level.
