I thought the worst Lunar game was that DS sequel everybody pretends doesn't exist? Well, it's like saying the worst Sega CD system ever made by Sega was the JVC X'eye. Or like saying that Shawn Flanning really screwed up Roxio Napster. Studio Alex had absolutely nothing to do with Lunar: Dragon Song, so no. It's not a Lunar game in anything but title. Here is a list of all true Lunar games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_AlexEverything else was Game Arts whoring the series out for a quick, easy profit.

I dunno hopefully its after-market value will sky-rocket because of how shitty it is. Maybe it'll make it rare?

The worst thing about that game I remember was trying to edit conversation text, like the opening scenes and stuff. Every couple of lines, after like a next-line it'd read a pointer or something like that and juggled about, and you couldn't just ignore the pointer jumps--you'd have to work with them. Too complex for me to consider fun :/
From what I could tell when I dumped it, the only random code laying about was formatting stuff and the character portraits. I'd have to look again, though. ~DS Sounds like a scripting engine. I've seen a million of them.. Choas Seed, Aretha 2, Dark Kingdom, etc... I believe all the Fire Emblem games for S-Nes use a scripting engine. Not too hard to crack!

If you don't mind sharing some Aretha stuff regarding the script. I wonder if it uses the same thing as the first. I have a decompressor and script extractor but the engine makes it not look so pretty at the moment. Maybe I could just give my stuff to you. The game has a built in VWF which is real easy to work with.

The last I checked Aretha used the same compression scheme. Istill have stuff for Aretha. Let me check it out and I can then go by that and see what I can give you. UPDATE: Not sure you need it, but here is my compression tool that works with both Aretha games. It decompresses and recompresses for me. Get the util and source HERE As for the Virtual Machine / Script dumper, it's basically the same opcodes and stuff. It even uses a similar routine to build the dynamic pointer table. But in order to work with my util, I would have to get some game specific stuff installed. But it's very possible!

Rejoice (also an Aretha game) does the same thing. I can send you the stuff g8z et al. rigged up for it, made the dialogue hacking at least really simple.

The game has a built in VWF which is real easy to work with. So are you considering using GZ's stuff or do you want to try and use what I have? For example, this is what my util does and it re-inserts the data back into a *.DAT file so the compressor can work it's magic! It also dumps just the text data from the scriptfile so you can just copy / paste it back into the script's text file. .ENDSCRIPT

Hmm...there is going to be different items and stuff for Aretha 1 but I'm pretty sure I have them dumped. If you guys don't have the decompressor, I have one that dumps all the text blocks to bin files.

Probably won't be as much work as SRWJ. Script is small too, and as we know our translator, he'll probably translate it in less than a month once he got the time.

Looks like Devil Children for GBA, with 'Jin's (?) silhouette.

It's Devil Children: Book of Ice, and that's Akira, not Jin ;)
