I'm perfectly aware that I need to work on that. :/
It's my first time drawing a font though, and I've never been that good at art anyways.
You don’t need to be a brilliant artist to be a decent pixel typographer; you’re already halfway there
For one, all the letters are still decipherable, and they’re spaced readably. Except for that tail on the ‘l’ (it’s a bit long and curly...), they’re all just height issues. Basically, there are four lines we usually think of for lower case: the baseline which the letters ‘sit’ on, the line which ‘descenders’ go down to, the middle line that is the height of most lowercase letters, and the top line which letters like ‘l’ and ‘h’ stretch up to.
Just think of the few heights the lowercase letters (like your ‘e’ and ‘s’) already conform to and make sure that no letter is too far off (easier said than done, I know).
You could also consider hyphenation to make the right edge less ragged.
But overall, it’s a very nice job! You should be proud.
EDIT: If my description is confusing, perhaps
Wikipedia can be of help. An interesting note that some people don’t realize right away, though, is that the “cap height†does
not have to be the same height as the “ascender heightâ€. Don’t sweat it if they are the same or if they’re different; either way is just fine.
