Wow, I can't believe this topic is still alive. ^^ For those of you who asked for an update, I'm still hard at work on the RS2 script. I'm over halfway through, though, and most of what's slowing me down is proofreading and consistency checking. Also, after speaking with Gideon, we've decided to ditch the different speech patterns used in the game. In short, it's just not feasible to include them in the English version. Also, they would make playtesting a bitch.  Wonderful news!  as before i can't wait to see this done and i'm glad to hear you are over halfway! talking about the different speech patterns, since you're going to cruise throught it, could you write something about it in a txt to be released with the patch? even a few words explaining about it with little details would be precious. Anything particularly interesting and unusual that you can tell us about the script without spoilering the story? many many thanks, karsten |

In regards to the plot, probably the most interesting aspect of the story is the way that the Seven Heroes came about, and that Also interesting is the fact that the names of the Seven Heroes are anagrams of seven Tokyo train stations. I have no idea how the hell I'm going to translate that. |

I have no idea how the hell I'm going to translate that. what do you mean? something on the line of station------General shibuya -> Yabushi Harajuku -> Jukuhara ? if so maybe you shouldn't translate the names and just add to the txt the info... BTW i love anagrams (anagrams, anagram is -> ars magna) |

for RS1 there was a PS2 remake that was officially released in the states. back on topic, thanks again for your work Eien, if your previous work is any indication this'll be great. |

I've got a Romancing SaGa I translation in the works. I've yet to snag a translator for the project, and I haven't worked on it in a while, though. ~DS |

trains? americans won't undestand or relate to that. name them after nascar drivers.   |

trains? americans won't undestand or relate to that. name them after nascar drivers. please, think of something everybody in the world can understand  i think most jrpg players can figure out the names of tokyo's train station, but not nascar ones (at least in europe)  |

Oh, now you're giving serious suggestions? I guess I should give a serious one now too then. The following places are large natural harbours:
* San Francisco Bay in the United States
* Boston in the United States
* Sydney Harbour in Australia
* Rio de Janeiro, Guanabara Bay, in Brazil
* Bahia de Todos os Santos in Salvador
* Halifax in Canada
* Poole in the United Kingdom
* Cork in the Republic of Ireland
* Falmouth in the United Kingdom
* Freetown Harbour in Sierra Leone
I'd go with harbor names. Still slightly obscure, but much more accessible for a western audience. Alter them slightly some how or something. Then its still transportation related, still a portal to a different world type thing... |

Make it capital cities across the globe or something! That'd be a move many people/cultures can reflect at. Make it Beijing, Moscow, Berlin, Rome, Paris etc. with the latter two you even get Greek references for free!

Or keep the TÅkyÅ train stations! Which are pretty well-recognized world round, considering they’re train stations....
(I can’t in good conscience recommend DC Metro or London Underground station names. Foggy Bottom? Cockfosters? Oof.)
