Ditch "Murder"? Afaik Conan cases are basically all murders, so everyone will know it is a murder case. Then you'd have a bit more space for the rest.

I say ditch "case" instead. "The Horror House Case" sounds a bit unnatural; "The Horror House Murder" sounds much better IMHO.

I can do that, but they're meant to be like the manga/anime and they're always "*location* murder case" . Like with the title screen, just using what's there.
I'll edit it up in a day or two and see what I can do though. On top of that, it's not like I can do the rest of the game. It's pretty much menus and case names. Haha.

IMO "Horror House" is unnatural English. Plus, it sounds a lot like "whorehouse". I suggest "Murder at the House of Horrors". HTH

However, s/he said that the comic has their episode titles as <something> murder case. S/he doesn't want to break that and I agree- if fans of the serious will expect that, you shouldn't break out of it even if it makes more sense (which I agree it does).
Maybe if s/he could post the original Japanese version, maybe there's a better translation we can find that'll fit?

Well, I think that if the title is "Underground Amusement Park Murder Case" you shouldn't repeat the words "murder case" at the three places (Labyrinth, Roller Coaster and Horror House). I'll write instead something like "Murder at the House of Horrors" (as Paul Jensen's said ) Why? Because it's weird to see a case into another case, so I think that's better to have a general case and three murders.

Yeah, I guess it all comes down to personal choice. I wouldn't want to tell someone how to express themself artistically (if in fact translation could be considered artistic expression). On the other hand, though, I don't see any particular reason to stick to the format used in the official translations. I'm sure most of us who post here are well aware official translations can be bad/wrong/crap/etc.

I think I spent like four or five hours straight to hack this one screen. Not to mention maybe a couple more to find the compression format (only to realize it's the same as the font, I just needed to track down the pointers). I tell you I'd like to find the person who programmed this. I'll share with you a screen of the decompressed tilemap data. Looks kind of ugly already. But just having a screwed up tilemap wouldn't have been simple enough. No, they needed to have another tilemap that positions each 4x4 block of tiles on the screen. So, the text is limited to 14 4x4 tile blocks. I think I did alright under those limitations. The game originally had a 4x8 character block at the top, an 8x16 char block in the middle, and a 4x16 char block at the bottom. I might try later changing the top portion from 12x16 characters to 8x24, and see how that works. (looks like I can fit in 6 lines, so it'll have to stay single-spaced) But not known. Kinda tired of looking at it.

Figured this out last night. Been spending the last hour or so trying to figure out extracting, editing, and then properly insterting TIM files for the game.

Not a Rom Hack, just a Zelda engine I've been working on, I'm trying to recreate a tile-set from some beta screenshots of Oracle Of Seasons. It's going pretty well, I've managed to finish the floor, walls, and dungeon entrance, but I need help recreating the statues from this screenshot, There appears to be two different kinds of statues, as shown here, If anyone could help draw these for me, it would be appreciated, you don't need to worry about the colors, just use black, 2 shades of grey, and white.

The floor looks similar to the one in the final game... they have a streak of outline going through the middle of the brick-tile-things. And I think the statues are actually just one and the other is a mirrored version of itself. I gave it a try, but there's a lot of artifcacts from the low quality. You would have a black outline, and then a lighter color and a darker color... but I don't think you have two shades of gray like you want. I think one of the colors for the statue would actually be a color to match the floor, since there's some floor sticking out behind the statue in the 16x16 tiles from the scan. Unless they're something fancy, or sprites... but I doubt that. I can't tell if they're supposed to be dragon-y things or knights on horses... D: They do look different from one another, but similar at the same time. The artifacts kinda make them all look arguable different from one another when you're trying to recreate them.
