For once, I actually agree. They ALL mean Confusion to me, and seemingly to a lot of others, judging by all the head-scratching comments on the board - we can't even agree on what some of them mean after lengthy discussion!

Actually I think it would be pretty clear what they mean once they show up next to the status ailment messages in battles.

I found a few of the dictionary values. Since the game has A HUGE dictionary, with entries that are several bytes, there's really no need put in my own dictionary or DTE code.

I know some might not agree with using an all caps font, but I think it makes it look more retro and more classic Goemon like.

I'm basically going to replace the Japanese dictionary values with English words.

Like I said, the game has a huge dictionary and I haven't figured out half the values yet.

Don't mean to sound impetuous, but if some of us can't distinguish what Geminis symbols are, how will others who play your hack?
Not sure if it was stated, but I'm guessing that the ball and chain is slow?

Except they'd be replacing the text, not showing up alongside them.

Unless he's planning on replacing "xxx casts Slow. yyy is now slow" or whatever with "xxx casts Slow. yyy is now <symbol>" I think you missed Tau's point.

I'm sure I'll hear "You start way too many projects, why don't you try finishing one?", but this will easily be my first released patch:

ActRaiser 2. A helluva lot easier in the Japanese version (Normal difficulty gives you 5 lives instead of 3, some enemies have less HP, and I heard that God moves faster in this version [though I've yet to confirm that last one]).

I've got everything set up and running that I need. Kitsune Sniper helped me set up my script file to work with Atlas so it'll write pointers for me automatically (I had been doing it by hand until then). It'll only take me as long to be done with this as it takes me to translate the script. I've already got all of the text for the first two stages fully translated and inserted. I think there's 14 stages total, but I'm not 100% sure (I never bothered playing through the US version, because it was too hard and took out the simulation stuff).

Now that I have seen those icons, I think they would fit in quite nicely and be easily recognizable for the most part.
Besides, having icons on the top and text on the bottom is kinda wierd looking.

@tummai: Did you get the message I sent ya?

Hah, that's great, considering the Japanese version of the original is a lot harder.

No it's not. It's easier too. Guys in the first stage that take multiple hits in the US version only take one in the Japanese one.

The Japanese version was definitely harder overall.

Hmm. I guess I just remembered the US version being much harder. But you're right. I just compared the two, and the US version takes away some spikes on the ground, makes the tree not drop his little minions to attack you and changes one half-apple to a full-apple. The enemies, however, take the same amount of damage to kill (all of the ones in Fillmore Act I only took one hit each, in both versions).

Interesting that they made the US version slightly less difficult, but made the sequel VERY much harder.

That's actually the font that was in every version of the game. The Japanese version used it for the option menu, and the US version used it for everything. I think it's a pretty awesome font too, so I used it as well.

I did, however, modify it a bit, so that the letters are aligned better. Then, my editor edited the font even more for the same reason.

Started working on an image to snes graphics format converter. Right now it's designed to work with bmp files but in theory it could probably work with others.

Still working out an algorithm to lump together palettes with common colors before I start outputting the actual palettes the graphics use.

edit: thanks DS, didn't notice it was in the wrong thread.
