As much as I hate to say this(And I really, really do.), but until Persona 2: IS is easy as hell to find on the net, you should allow pre-patched ISOs. For most, that will be the only way to find the game and the patch.
That is, unless you got yourself a group of people willing to seed the game un-patched, or know of a damn good and easy to use source to find it...

Granted, PS1 isos aren't as easy to get as Nes roms, but still, I think getting to and using the Snesorama board is reasonable easy enough. You can even google a link to the iso.

It's that easy to find? I know US PS1 games are fairly easy to find(Can find most major games and darlings of the hardcore set easy as hell. lesser known games is a bit harder, but still possible.), but japanese is a different story...

I don't like to have my patches related that much with warez, and I'm sure many other hackers agree with this sentiment. Also it's not really my problem if the game is rare... I mean, just because it's translated you don't have to release it with the patch already applied. If somebody really wants to release it somehow, he/she/it can just put the patch as a separate file. It's not hard...

I agree with Gemini. Plus, frankly, IS isn't really that rare. Ebay SearchYou want rare? Try finding Demon's Blazon, or the guidebook. Good luck. The guidebook alone went for $35. =X ~DS

No one knows where the hell to find the damn things except in a store, and nobody is gonna do that. As for myself, I'll be stubborn and wait until I find a source for it in the event that somebody starts distributing the patched game, as it goes against your wishes. Edit: I suppose my logic comes from this: If i was gonna work goddamn hard on something like this, i'd make sure it'd get widely used. Within reason, of course.

People have complete ISO collections of all PSX games these days. If people want the game they can easily find it. Saying otherwise is naive IMO. Someone will surely put up a pre-patched ISO somewhere.... there is absolutely no need for Gemini to pull his project into illegal areas.

It's already illegal, given he's violating copywrites. All translations are.
People have had complete collections for a long time. Problem is, they're not being shared in great quantities unless they're either huge name games or US. I can only think of one place outside of usenet that has a complete japanese PSX project going...

No one knows where the hell to find the damn things except in a store, and nobody is gonna do that. If you have the ISO (downloaded or dumped from the original disc) and the patch as separate files where is the problem? All I want is no pre-patched ISOs, and I really don't see how that could condemn my patch in any way. The only real advantage of having the translated ISO is that it saves you 60 seconds for patching. Wow.

I'm probably not getting my point across right.
I'm saying the only way for the game to get widespread within a fairly short amount of time is to pre-patch it and start up a torrent that way, ala that partial SRW Alpha translation and the Bloody Bride translation from several years ago(Which came out too soon for torrent. >.<).

After not even five minutes of looking, I have the iso downloading. and I will seed as long as it is needed. So please quit fighting in this thread. I'm not liking the fact that people keep fighting in the threads I find most informational. Now, I.S.T., if you wish to continue this discussion, make a new thread or take it to pm.
Also, I'm pretty sure I just broke rule seven, but I don't like the arguing.

Who's fighting?
and if I'm wrong, I'll retract my statements... It's not a position I'm in love with.
Edit: and given that I'm most likely wrong(I'm not checking myself as I'm about to log off and i've been awake for far too long), it's not really an issue anymore... >.<

Tell you what. If I were to do a translation of an ISO, I would certainly NOT release a pre-patched ISO. I don't want the type of people who need a pre-patched ISO to use my work. Sorry if any of you here fall under that category. That's how I feel. There's a variety of reasons Gemini wouldn't want to do this. I can certainly understand why. Sometimes, getting the widest audience possible is not desirable if you have to compromise on matters you disagree with.

So, um, back on topic... I'm working on a new Final Fantasy Legend hack. These screens don't actually show off what the hack is supposed to be, but I think they're still pretty cool improvements. Lowercase class names. This one is stretching the truth a little bit. I haven't fixed all the monster names, but I fixed the starting four and ten or so more. Some text hacking to make it not Engrish! The original line was "Something missing from this statue. .. ." The font is an edit of the Dragon Warrior font.
