Heh, yeah I'm putting "SaGa" in the title. But it's more of a spinoff/crossover hack. I don't want to give any more information, though, because I don't really have anything to show off yet.

SaGa vs. Capcom Tongue sorry, couldn't resist when you said "crossover"

This is not much of an update fellas, I'm motivating myself to start hacking. In Toad's House I edit the background to give it a more pixel look and I replaced the old Toad sprite. I'm thinking of adding the CV3 font, think I should do it?

So, um, back on topic...

I'm working on a new Final Fantasy Legend hack. These screens don't actually show off what the hack is supposed to be, but I think they're still pretty cool improvements.
Is is a retranslation?

If so, a few months ago, out of boredom, I translated a SaGa 2 script I found on a Japanese site, which I'm pretty sure is all the game text minus item and enemy lists. If you get to FFL2, you're welcome to it.

I'm not sure on the CV3 font, I'd have to see it in action to have an opinion. Did you get my PM at my forum? I'm still working on those graphics for you, or rather, I still plan on working on them, I seem to get myself distracted a lot. I need to know if you want my enhanced level palettes or not, they're mostly inspired by SMB1, I don't want to accidentally overwrite any palette work you've done with mine though.

No, it's not a retranslation. I was going to specifically mention that in the post but... well actually I think I just forgot.  Cheesy  I don't think I'm good enough to try a retranslation even if the game is already in English and everything. Something about pointers, and rom expansion, and... DTE?  Undecided\

I always think the CV3 font is a good thing. However, it really depends on context, I'm not sure it would fit in a Mario game. A screenshot is order, methinks.

You can't tell, but I fixed some resulting flicker in the "clear window for a new page of text" routine.
(I guess the couple extra characters per line that my window uses pushed it over the breaking point)
The first shots successfully takes nametable boundaries into consideration.

(I added my own window clear routine to the NMI routine. Why I don't get is why setting up the flag to activate the routine and then waiting for the NMI routine causes flicker (setting a flag in RAM, then waiting until the NMI routine occurs and clears the flag) whereas just letting the game continue to run avoids the flicker)

Now I'll try to fix a bug in the text routine.
The text routine glitches if the window displays more than 16 characters on a line AND spans both nametables (the extra characters will print offscreen, on the opposite nametable).
(There's 18 characters on the first line of the second shot, but it doesn't cross a nametable boundary.)
The original text was just written around the problem. Tongue

The font choice is quite nice. I'm usually against italic fonts for a game, but it seems to fit.
