I would think you could detour the person to a "READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST" page after they click on the "new topic" button if their post count is 0.
agreed. as long as it's really short. perhaps even do one of those hidden link things where the "continue" link/button at the bottom is NOT the right answer, and the actual continue link is hidden somewhere in the text (with a line saying "to continue, click here", or something). it just forces you to read the text that much more. *removed by request - sorry*
lolz. perhaps SA is another choice worthy of consideration? do they do that kind of thing?

Do that and I'll ban you permanently. If you do that, and the S2Beta board folks find out that the idea originated HERE, we will be flooded and attacked in revenge. So don't even fucking try it.

Do that and I'll ban you permanently. If you do that, and the S2Beta board folks find out that the idea originated HERE, we will be flooded and attacked in revenge. So don't even fucking try it. i said i was tempted, didnt say i was gonna do it. everyone gets temptation, its the ability to resist those urges which makes us civilized. unfortunately the [deleted] are very uncivilized. i never had any intentions to do that, but i had fantasized about it, and i think the idea did strike a cord with some people. I apologize for any attacks on that site (i don't even know who or what forum that was, just knew that, that, is really elitist.) i did not go to any chans with this, and if somehow this does make it to a [deleted] i'd like to say before i get banned that its been lovely talking with the people of this forum.

Something Awful charges for posting access (and I think to remove ads when reading. But FireFox + AdBlock gives us that for free. )

and yeah, just to reiterate, i thought the suggestion was amusing. i didn't think it would be a good idea to actually do it.

It's allright.
I don't like it when people plot such things. I know a few retards who used to call themselves friends of mine who did this a few times. It wasn't pretty. I don't want that to happen here, that's all.

well it wouldn't be the first time a retard has started the ball rolling towards decadence in a good forum.
of note though is the amount of channiness i've seen, i hope its just a fad, and it will pass, anyone with any common sense should know that the people (there maybe a few, like one or two) who are almost bearable.
but 4chan has made me truly afraid for the world, i really hope that people aren't like that on a day to day basis, or the world is doomed :banghead:

What you really need is a quick quiz on what they think this site is about... and if they think "insert favorite game here" has a full blown editor... tell them they are a "'insert favorite game here' master"! Seriously, I think you can make this quiz fun enough to be amusing, yet straight forward enough to temporarily ward off the clueless.

Last week, I curiously visited the Nintendo of America forums for the first time in what 8, 9 years? Wow! They've had to write a few novel-length explanations about what posting restrictions are placed on each user rank. Such as earning the right to post beyond a few general sections... right to post images... right to use HTML... signatures... edit posts. Although I suppose their size means they need to put tighter restrictions on the content posted by um... unproven members. I think I'm staring to get a headache.
