Probably need to rework it a bit, still. There's another place it needs to show up, and like the guy says, "The Kira Game" is slightly larger than it probably should be. I erred on the side of "cover up the old graphics so I don't have to clone brush anything"; turned out I ended up using the brush anyway, and there was actually a "clean" version of the background graphic in there as well, so yeah, stuff needs fixing (but not a lot).

I found a really nice Death Note font for the interface elements (Ryuk Scrawl). It's not a perfect match for the original; neither is MS Mincho a perfect match for the Japanese font the game uses in its graphics, but I think both look really nice here:

I know it's still a little rough around the edges.
Logo transplanted and lazily resized from a DVD cover (the logo in a shiny silver color scheme). But I touched it up, then I realized I should adjust the colors I used so it approximately matches the title scene in the anime opening. (luckily the palette already contained the needed colors, even though the Japanese logo was solid white)

Took two attempts to transplant the graphic, the first was a bit larger, but it fit the dimensions of the original, however it used too many tiles.

That "adventurer" screen for some reason glitches the text on Gens Tracer, but shows fine on Kega Fusion (which I thought is the more accurate emulator... so I shouldn't worry?)

Last is the sound menu, which I spent yesterday hacking up, got done. Just going to need to insert Eien's translation into it.

The only untranslated graphic remaining is the game-finished screen, which I expect to be a simple graphic replacement. It says "Owaru". I'm thinking I should just replace it with "Fin".

Here is the original title screen for Detective Conan: Trick Trick Vol. 1 for the Playstation.

The second picture is the blank brick wall I pieced together after removing the Japanese characters.

Then below is the current title screen.  Took me a little under 2 hours to do it.  I couldn't find a font I REALLY liked.  The ones I tried using just looked blocky and pixelated.

Still looks pretty good.

Plan on making a "Case Closed!" logo, or are you just sticking with "Detective Conan"?

Sticking with Detective Conan.  Trick Trick was annoying enough, don't want to mess with more title screen stuff.

We kinda talked about that one here.

1. "Naughty" is just plain awful in English - it sounds like a porno.

2. "Kokkun" is a play on コック, meaning "Cook". The U.S. version "Panic Restaurant" calls him "Cookie," which is pretty much a direct translation.

3. "Little" is redundant. I don't know where the hell that came from.

So if you could redo that logo to say "Chef Cookie in...," I know someone who'd be really freaking grateful.

I take responsibility for that.  Embarrassed

Using the name "Cookie" eliminates the need for the word "little".

And yeah, "naughty" does sound pretty pornerific.

The name Cookie kind of makes "Chef" redundant though, could probably drop the Chef.

Or if you want to go with that angle I think "[adjective] Chef Cookie" sounds kind of unnatural in English, something like "Cookie the [adjective] Chef" would be better (where [adjective] is whatever synonym for "naughty" you can come up with that doesn't make it sound like he's, you know, coming to "frost" your "cake")

This is a new version of my Intro Screen of my hack of Contra on the NES. I found all data pertaining to palettes, so I fiddled with the colors to give it a sharper look. At first, I colored the big Contra letters blue to somewhat match the level 5, which is a snow and ice level, but I think I could use it for the final version of my hack, since the original idea was to include Blue Falcon in the title. Red Falcon is destroyed in the original, and a new opponent, the Blue Falcon, appears...

I moved the selection cursor a few pixels to the left...

What we don't see in the screenshot is that when the Intro Screen scrolls from the right, the palettes are different. There is an initial set of palettes, and another set is loaded when the scrolling finishes and the Intro Tune starts. The two guys are always there, but when it's scrolling, they only have 0F in their palettes, which make them invisible. I added some shades of gray to the guy's initial palette, so that it looks like they are emerging from the shadows...

The Intro Screen tile mappings are all in one continuous block of compressed data. The compression is the same as the graphics data, so it's already documented, but adding stuff is more likely to extend the length of the block of data, so I'd have to move it somewhere else in the ROM...

Got a simple title screen that needs to be done. I'm gonna call the game Warwolf Chronicles and I've already shifted Warwolf up and now just need the that one graphic done.
