what about translating the bit below too.
It says "Super Contra" in Katakana. Those tiles could possibly be left unused; change the tiles themselves and move them elsewhere in the screen in case a tile or two is needed.

yeah, I'd almost be more inclined to translate that part and leave the artistic title as is, but that wouldn't be near as big of a change.

Does anybody want to try and do something with this for the upcoming Emerald Dragon translation? It's probably unnecessary with the English already present, but I thought I'd throw it out there because it would probably look pretty cool for the giant letters to be English instead.

I think it'd look awesome if someone were able to switch the two, really. Make the English letters into tiny katakana, and make the katakana into some stylized English text. I think that'd look pretty neat.

I really like the title screen the way it is, but it would be a fun challenge to try. Smiley

I agree, or just remove the little text all together. You could even make the "E" and "D" Yellow and Red like in the logo, or you could just keep it all green.

@FlashPV, Nice I like it.

i like it, though i think the T should be made more normal. like, have the center bar centered instead of being to the right.

@Kajitani-Eizan
It's the "official" font.  I got it on Wikipedia.

You cheated, this is based on the original arcade logo! Tongue

Add a small shadow / 3D effect to the back, and it'll be perfect. Wait - remove that subtitle, that just sounds silly. I know it's in the original arcade flyer art... it still sound silly. :p

A shadow/3D effect would be easy to add with paint but I don't think it's feasible on the real think due to palette limitation. I was able to insert back this title screen in the rom and it's working.  Grin

It looks like the non-SNES versions had English logos in the border. Lakuuna seems to be working (the link on your site  Cheesy ), though I suppose you'd have to upscale them.
