I could get my sister to try her hand at it. She loves this sort of thing anyway... :P I'll get her to do it, join RHDN and post it, if you want.
EDIT: How big does it have to be?

take a few pixels out of his mustache at intervals, yours is kinda smooth, while the original is dimpled
Yay, the mustache does need some dimples. It was closer to the original, but I needed to make it smaller. Also I think I need to bring in the sideburns a little more. Sure, I would like to see what your sister can do. It should be close to the same size as the one I made.

I'm sorry it's six pixels bigger, but it's that I can't work on something so small. D: Oh, by the way, I'm Garoth's sister.

Can't you just vectorize it like this: Use a program like Inkscape allows one to create very nice & smooth images with limited colors (<16 if you like) as it can trace bitmaps quite well. The picture above was saved as a 16 color image, 128x100 pixels. Certain Internet browsers *cough*IE*cough* cannot diplay vector graphics so that's why I turned it into a bitmap again; Firefox can so it is possible to post them here. Plus when the image is changed into a vector you can modify its size unlimitedly without losing ANY resolution! So you can get the most optimal bitmaps. Plus it saves you much time; the image above was made in little time, and most of that was because I had to remove that silly golden stamp by hand.

It's a Star Wars reference. It's something that Han Solo says that the Millenium Falcon can do.
Welcome to RHDN. ^.^

The Kessel Run is a smuggling run in Star Wars. Also, Han made it in less than 12 parsecs, not 8. 8 would have shot him right into the Maw. The vector looks really nice. The other Mario looks too angry. I think he means to put my eyes out...

No, this one's exact. D8> @ Maegra --> .. Kessel? What kessel..? That can be changed, how would you like it? I can also put it upside down or skew it a bit , but seriously the vector could be used for edge detection so you get a 'background' image from which you can modify it by hand allowing you to make an image which is as much the same or completely different from the original. It makes it a bit easier to get the chubby Mario contours right, if you catch my drift... btw. Inkscape is, although still in the development stage, quite a good program. If you're interested see some of these screenshots over at inkscape.org. The program has much functionality, but I do have to say that huge, complex images can create a lot of lag.
