Perhaps you can knock down some of the bosses health  then. Chins iron claws should be brought way up too, because it takes a iron claw each time you hit an enemy, but it takes about 5 hits before they get knocked down. If you can do something about giving chars an extra life that would be good. Cause I think the hack needs something that can't easily be done with a game genie code.  Maybe try to allow your character to retain weapons instead of them dissapearing when new enemies appear. As it stands it's alot better than that Double Dragon 1 "Easy Hack" that just gives people infinite energy/lives.

Okay, it's official; this has turned into another project.

As for the bosses' health, I'm leaving them where they stand.

Chin's iron claw, for your information, is a real energy drainer - what you do is punch someone with it, then take them down with a kick.

I'm not even going to get into lives.

If you want any inspiration on how to do it, Double Dragon 2 for NES has a difficulty select.

I love you Jedi! This is awesome that my suggestion was taken and run with by a real pro! Really the only thing I could think of other then fixing typos and maybe making weapons not disapear when the enemys that carry them die is the lives thing and thats quite impossible.

Whoa, I'm a pro now? Aw, man, I thought to get pro status you'd have to hack, like, fifty people.

The closest thing I can come up with lives is having Jimmy at the start of a 1 player game.

That actually sounds like a good idea. They did that in the snes Kunio game that got translated.

The hack needs more tho, adding weapons and jimmy don't really make it much of an easy hack. If you can't do lives then you need to touch on energy, when playing this game without savestates I don't make it so far So you should bring down enemies energy a tiny notch, not up. Bringing their energy down seems more feasable than bringing your energy up, because your energy is depicted by energy bars and not stats.

Taking down the enemys energy would be too damn dar tho. I can already take down an enemy in two combos. This is more making an impossible game into a challenging game not an easy game. We don't want to make it boring.

An easy mode for a very hard game is akin to normal mode on a normal game.

Now I'm getting into the tricky stuff.  Is there a way I can have the game reset?  After there's a Game Over, the player isn't given 3 continues again, since it doesn't start from the beginning.

Also, the final boss had way too much health to begin with - it was set to FF. Shocked I brought it down to C8. Smiley

What else? As for keeping weapons, the sprites will change once another enemy comes on screen.  The game has an interesting way of using the tiles.

well make sure you don't tone down the final boss too much, it is the final boss after all. But I am in favor of toning it down if its insane.

C8 isn't that much: FF is 255 - C8 is 200.  I had it at E1 (225) for a while, but thought that was still too high.

Sounds reasonable.

It seems that the spears were going to be weapons.  "HAND SPEAR" is in the text & it's possible to make them bounce off of the wall. Grin But you can't pick them up. Sad
