I have a suggestion for a Double Dragon 3 easy mode hack.
Basicly this game is a wonderful game that I loved to play as a kid(Which cheats that made it fair like double life etc) but its marred by not having any form of lives or continues. It also has a problem with enemys intterupting your combos with a free punch in the face thus making it pointless to do anything but jump kick.
Imo this great game should be "Fixed" with the addition of lives, continues, and maybe the aformentioned punch thing.
I know most of you have your own projects and are quite busy but I just wanted to throw this suggestion out there.

Adding lives would be very difficult. I think it's impossible.

But more energy... THAT I can see happening. But... the difficulty is what makes the game good. Tongue

There is a continue once you make it to Mission 4.  I was planning on trying to hack that so the player has infinite continues from the beginning.

This won't ever become a hack I doubt because people don't care much to Double Dragon hack. I'm probably the only one that made a hack that takes the series seriously. I think if it were hacked tho it would be good if falling in pits only takes away a few hit points and respawns you. Falling into pits drains your lives too quickly.

Okay, did it. Wink When the game starts, you have 255 continues; but I need to make sure when you get to Mission 4 it doesn't revert back to 1 or give you an extra one resulting in having 0. Tongue

Also when you lose on the first Mission, there is no Game Over screen.  I doubt that causes any problems, but I'll look into that as well.

Edit: My bad, there is a Game Over screen, but it doesn't take a continue or go through the story again. Tongue

I fixed it so when the player reaches Rome, it is set back to 255 continues. Tongue

Imo you should make it like 5 or so continues because while some would like a hack that easy I want at least some challenge.

Well, I'd like to see a Double Dragon hack that has the River City Ransom characters in it. Just a suggestion though, since you did a great job on Tiny Toon Adventures. Wink
I got that hack off a site 2 years ago. Here's a pic, hopefully you'll find inspiration to finish it.

Yeah, what was I thinking? If you need 255 continues, you're beyond hope.

I decided to make it 3.  Would a sinch hack like this be suitable to upload? Undecided\

It seems like a decent start. I think you should try to do some damage tweaking or something. enemies need less damage to be killed, their attacks are weaker kinda thing.

As for converting DD into River City Ransom. It wouldn't happen from me. If I were to do something like that it would be the exact opposite and turn a River city ransom game into Double Dragon. Besides, I don't think a simple sprite port would work. They stand out from their environment I think, so the environment would have to be redrawn drastically too.

You hacked it and it's not a graphics hack, right? Maybe you could. Cheesy

I think it desreves to be put in. And the enemys take enough dmg to die in a timely fasion imo but maybe you can add alittle health to good guys? Or fix that bastard thing that makes them punch in the middle of your combos? This hacks gunna be awesome by the way!

Note: I have no idea if you could fix it so they don't sucker punch you while you punch them.

I've always thought to give them more health to make it even more realistic but give the player more weapon.

I don't want to turn this hack into another project.

Couldn't you just make it into a Gameshark code?

More weapon would be nice seeing as its pretty useless as is. Give them like 30 swings. Not like you will destory the game balance or anything by setting it over FIVE lol.
Pretty much imo if you set the weapons thing and the continues thing it should desreve a place in this site because it is kinda a "Fix".

Thanks for reminding me. Wink Here are the codes:

LAVVLZAA,LEVLOGPA - 3 Continues
IAVVLZAA,IEVLOGPA - 5 Continues
NYVVLZAE,NNVLOGPE - 255 Continues

I set Billy, Jimmy, & Chin's weapons to 20.  While Ranzou has 40 Shurikens.  I don't know if that seems out of place: 40 shurikens? Undecided\ It's not like Billy or Jimmy have 20 nunchuks - it's how many times that one nunchuk can last before being destroyed.

I'm also for fixing the text.  So Bimmy & Jimmy will not be practising in Rome for the big battle.  Are there any others?
