That'd be awesome - Kero talking in a cockney accent Seriously though, I think this game's going to more american people than british people, so maybe a southern accent? Tomoyo talking in Jive would be weird she's more withdrawn, (most likely because she has a crush on Sakura), and at the point in the story this game takes place, Li's actually more friendly towards Sakura. By the way, I've got to the point where Sakura introduces herself -ingame- and the reason why it pauses is to sync with the voice acted introduction, that's right she actually speaks at that point, so she actually says Watashi... blah (can't remember the rest ) so I think some experimentation should be done for that, maybe put each new word before a wait command until you run out? If you want to use more space for that to put something else there than just the name introduction, then maybe put their age, or their likes/dislikes, but I remember Sakura having a second voice acted line right after the first one. [PS] I'm glad you managed to find Sakura's introduction - I couldn't

Maybe we could add some repetitive ending to what he says. (e.g leave this "ya" at the end...I know it's kansai "da/desu") He's meant to be a "kawaii" character I guess. I wouldn't add anything after the introduction of the characters...but that would be a waste of space, wouldn't it...

Just do 2 translations. I thought about doing that once for that project, seeing how America persists in being different by calling them "Calico Critters". Then I decided I'd rather eat broken glass and have shrapnel rubbed in my eyes.

Then I decided I'd rather eat broken glass and have shrapnel rubbed in my eyes. yeah I think having two translations would be pretty annoying, I'd rather just stick with an american translation, I don't mind (my brain auto-translates american slang ) I'm not sure how to represent Kero's way of speaking in english... In the horrific dub they made him seem more laid back instead of seeming cute, so maybe we could do something similar? I'd like to steer clear of using Japanese words to end English sentances, so maybe if we abbreviate some of the words he says and make him use slang for certain parts it might help to represent the way he acts when he speaks in Japanese, eg: Instead of " I'm waiting ", write " I'm waitin' " [PS] As a side note, did you recieve my PM o_mo_shiroi?

Yeah, I was just kidding around, of course. Of course?
Anyway, after actually thinking about it, we could probably put in anything like a title or a trivia tidbit or something, and it'd work out fine.
I actually have been putting all the dialogue in with the original pauses, it's just... the pauses in English are going to be pretty random at times. So, Sakura's voice might say "Watashi wa" and pause, but then the text is going to read "When I saw" and pause. Or something else stupid.
It's not a deal-breaker, or anything, and if we just leave it in, well, we wouldn't be the first. I'm looking at YOU, Final Fantasy Tactics. Jus' sayin' you know. Honestly, if you can play it in English, that's 95% of happy for everyone. And if fixing it is hard, well, we all might be better off just moving on to another project which will make people 95% happy with only 50% of the work.

I probably wouldn't remove the voices, I think removing a feature of a game just to make the text seem more seamless is something that should be left to official localisations.

I've found that "Clow Cards Chapter" was translated as "Clow Cards Arc" (first anime series) [the same goes with "Sakura Cards arc/chapter" which is the base of this game] Should we take the names after anime? Also, the first episode's title (after the prologue made by Kero - summary of the first series) is "Sakura and the Awakened Star Key" (2nd episode of 2nd series). I haven't watched the series, though. /Maybe I should do it.... /

I'm not sure, does Arc sound better than Chapter? I think if the episode titles match up with the anime episode names then it shouldn't be a problem to use them from the anime, but there may be unique episode titles in this game, I'm not sure. About Kero's slang that you mentioned to me earlier, I was thinking of light slang like abbreviating words, and using common slang that you usually hear on a day to day basis. I can't really see any way of having a strong accent and it reading well in english.
