I guess this layout works a little better for that menu: Just move around the stat indicators and you'll have more space for item names and quantifiers.

Yeah, I really like that layout. Have you given all the menus an overhaul like that? I never liked FF4's layouts to be honest, but I do like the moving windows, are those still in?

Have you given all the menus an overhaul like that? Only four of them: main party screen, equipment, status, item. By the way, it's not a hack. I actually programmed a menu shell like TOSE did for the GBA porting. I never liked FF4's layouts to be honest, but I do like the moving windows, are those still in? Nope. I always hated them. They made everything so ugly and slow, not to mention all the hard-coded crap behind them.

Can you put the item name and count on seperate lines?
Probably not, unless he killed the DTE code used there. The blank spaces above the numbers would be drawn over the item name. I avoided this problem by limiting my item names to 10 characters. Quantity fits, enough of the name fits to know what everything is, and the names fit in every menu so I'm not bouncing between three or four sets like J2e's translation used. I think I'm going to do that, and perhaps throw in a double line at a later date. Also, I did this last night (idea stolen from j2e): But that caused two semi-bugs as well. The routines for loading class and character names are shared with the equipment and status menus as well. In equipment, it loads the character name one line down, as per the changed routine, but it only loads one letter in the characters name, and then fills the rest in spaces because of a later routine. In the status menu, the name loads fine (albeit one line down from where it should be), but the class loads off the screen an partially onto another line. Methinks I need to write a separate routine for just the main menu to fix this. Thoughts? (Ignore the unfinished right side of the menu. =P) ~DS

Finally sat down for the battle text. Still got lots of time, but can't hurt to do it early.

Ah heck, I'll beat it in Japanese and I'll replay it when and if you ever get done with it... Aren't you also working on SRWJ atm or are you waiting for Tyria to translate the script?

Hacking on SRWJ is pretty much done, only minor things left. Can't be a bad thing to beat SRWW once though, as the final chapter will be different the second time. Real work on SRWW will only start after translating SRWJ is done (not to be confused with the actual release of the translation). I'm only doing preliminary work now, like compressions, text systems, and VWF, so basically only a fraction of the actual work.
And yeah, guess I'll change it to Duo again.
