Translation is nearing completion!!
This one will not die like the other ones, we're pretty much done, thank god! :woot!:
The Translation is actually entering a testing phase right now. I am testing the script, and DaMarsMan is fixing just about everything else right now, and hopefully after that it should be done. All the work, hacking and translating and what not, has already been done!!
Anyone as psyched as I am for this release?!?! :woot!: :woot!: :woot!:

What does the SNES version have over the GBC version, just out of curiosity?

You think about VI dying? Huh?! VI has already been translated.
OK and about the GBC vs SNES question.....
It looks better, it sounds better. It has more and better dialogue, the GBC font was huge with little text windows. IT seriously looks alot better. The battles are animated nicely with nice backgrounds. Otherwise it contains everything the GBC version does, as it came out after the SNES one and they based it on this remake of it. But it is just such a better version of the game for SNES. Its alot more "playable"

The GBC version is perfectly "playable". You can play only the GBC version your whole life and not miss out on any content or features. - The GBC version adds Monster Medals and a new bonus dungeon. - The SNES version is prettier. Those are the differences.

Better graphics and more powerful hardware make games more fluid, and in my impression more playable.
I prefer any of the DQ remakes to the original games, and I prefer the Final Fantasy 1 2 and 3 remakes to the original. Those NES RPGs just are too outdated for my taste. Because GBC is basically a portable NES..... you get my point.

It's closer to an SMS than an NES.

I really don't like you. I played the GBC before the SNES version and there both great. What Spinner 8 said is right on the money. I guess you're just a graphics person.. The GBC version is perfectly "playable". You can play only the GBC version your whole life and not miss out on any content or features.

That is so true.

I put the contents of the extra quote into your previous post and deleted the double post, SerenadeDS. Also, please don't start a flame war(Or help it along).

Those are the differences. As hyped as I am for DQIII SNES, I have to say that Spinner 8 is right on target. If it weren't for DQ3 GBC, I would have never have bought DQI&II GBC, and never would have given any of the other DQs a chance. I also prefer DQ3 GBC's graphics over the SNES one because it is actually cleaner in some aspects. Then again, I grew up with the Gameboy and my GB/C/A collection is far larger than my other console's collections... maybe even put together. In summary, the SNES one isn't more playable than the GBC one. The only difference are the graphics and some controls (the SNES one has "not-really-pixel-to-pixel" 4 direction movement, while the GBC one has tile-by-tile and that the GBC uses only the action button and menu button control scheme that's similar to Final Fantasy while the SNES is more traditional.)

Well now I look like an idiot!! Point is Dragon Quest III Reprise for SNES is finally being translated. If you wanted that, you got it! If not, then good for you, nothing has changed! But now I and many others who have wanted this version can finally play it once we finish it up..... End of Story! And for the record I've played all original and remake Dragon Quests, I don't discriminate I'm what you'd call a shameless DQ Fanboy

Gotta say I'm excited about this.
If I'm given the option of playing an rpg with the "snes" sensibility, or the gameboy sensibility, I'll go with SNES any day.
For one, I have less than stellar eyesight, and playing games on a tiny gameboy-sized screen, strains my eyes.
I'm not ashamed to say that presentation is a factor for me. If two versions play nearly identical, but one looks and sounds infinitely better, it's really a no brainer.
And I generally don't care for the kind of bonus dungeons that developers just slap into new ports of a game anyways. They usually feel really out of place.
