I decidedly like the Super Nintendo version Breath of Fire's font better than the GameBoy Advance version's font. And after playing masaki's color restoration mod, I thought, "Hey, why not make it even
more like the SNES version?"
I had to add that drop shadow in the third picture by hand. Afterwords, I had to edit it so it wouldn't look so boxy with the smoothing.
Now, you might be curious, seeing the fourth picture, as to what I did with the 8x8 font. Well, I was initially going to do a smaller version of the 8x16 font...but then I saw that the stupid "graying out the black normally used for shadows" issue was replicated here, only this time, it was "graying out the gray normally used for smoothing". Since the original Breath of Fire barely used smoothing for what little 8x8 font it had (It basically consisted of the uppercase letters and the numbers 0-9), I decided to steal another game's. Which game?
Final Fantasy IV for the Super FamiCom. No, not any of the translations, either--I mean, untranslated, no modifications.
...Though as you can see, I
did make some mods to the font. Not many, though. Mainly, I edited a few uppercase letters to be more consistent with the rest of the uppercase letters, and the uppercase "A" and the "2" are from Lufia & the Fortress of Doom.
I might release this, though without masaki's color mod.
EDIT: Also, in the 8x16 font, I edited the lowercase "g". This is because I was trying to make the lowercase letters that were supposed to hang down actually hang. So like the lowercase "p" hangs lower than the "a" instead of being the same height... Anyway, I couldn't find a decent look for the original lowecase "G", so I made an edit of the "y".
