Well, with cefka... it reads sefka. Camille Kamille though is just plain nitpicking.

Who cares if Kamille is the official romanization? First off, Camille is an actual girls name and second, it just looks better.

it just looks better.
And there's the rub. That is purely subjective. Eventually, one is completely bound to the whim of the translator. One either partakes of his/her finished product or does not. In my case, with Ys IV: Mask of the Sun, I replaced it. Pointless discussion. Everyone winds up mad. :banghead:

In that case you just write a program that presents a table with all the names and hacks the changes into the ROM.

I personally prefer Kamille. It's pronounced the same as Camille, but it has a manly look about it.

But it's not meant to be manly.

I'm a stickler for consistency, so I go with Kamille Bidan...but not because I like the Zeta Gundam dub. (To be blunt, it's mind-numbingly awful. How is it that ten years ago, Konami marshaled a bunch of people I've never heard of since to turn in an A-class dub for "Snatcher" while Bandai is still having trouble getting its ADR writers to understand the concept that people will actually have to recite their scripts?)

Search your Zeta DVDs and you'll find Kamille. That really should end the discussion right there. Unfortunately, it won't. :banghead:

Search your Zeta DVDs and you'll find Kamille. That really should end the discussion right there. Unfortunately, it won't. :banghead: That's the official translation, doesn't mean it's the best choice. Point is, is that Camille really is a better choice because it's an actual female name and a Kamille is a flower. Camille is a common female name, but you hardly ever see people named Kamille. I think it would make more sense for Camille to be offended by an actual womens name, rather than the name of a flower. In the end they're both feminine, but I still think Camille is better because it's a common female name. Don't get me wrong, I really don't care wether they use Kamille or Camille, I'm just saying why I think Camille is better. That's my opinion atleast. Camille is a girls name of Latin origin. Kamille is the German name for the Chamomile flower and I'm not even sure if that's pronounced the same way. I AM however, sure that "Camille" is indeed pronounced the same way.

I feel obligated to mention at this point that you're making exactly the argument you were trying so vehemently to refute with the whole Ranbo/Rambo thing a while back. Of course, you're still arguing against an official name on the grounds that you think it's silly. This isn't like the whole Glenn/Grenn thing with Chrono Cross--this is an actual official ENGLISH name that fits perfectly with the Japanese kana. Since that is the case, there has to be a good reason to change it--and there's not. Consequently, it is my opinion that being named after a flower makes far more sense for the character than being named after a girl. But that really doesn't matter much because there's no good reason to NOT go with the official name on this one. It's not like they changed his name to Jim or Rick Hunter or something
