I was making a joke Tongue. And I was talking about phantasy star 1 and 2 for playstation 2, currently a pain in the ass to hack cause as far as I know no one has hacked a ps2 game.
Right now I don't have the money to pay for a hack job but maybe soon.

I was thinking of the idea the other day, actually, glad to see it came up as a topic.

If I seriously had enough money to spend, I would definitely hire a small team to hack a game (and do a good job of it, and a damn good game deserving of the time).

The idea isn't propostrous.  Especially since most rom hackers do the hacking out of goodwill, they don't get paid, but imagine the insentive to work if they did.  Remember how freaking excited everyone was when hell froze over and an Atelier game came over stateside?  I'm all for the idea, unfortunately rom hacking itself has only a selevtive fanbase as it is and it calls in numerous other problems and issues.

Some (not all) people would find themselves losing motivation because it'd feel like a job. The money would create pressure.

Not to mention increased chance for legal reprisal.

I think when it comes to money romhackers should stick to the donation system.

The donation system is borderline extortion. If you want a hobby that turns a profit, romhacking isn't for you.  :police:

Which is why some people don't like them, tho they are VERY good translaters.

I remember when the fellas that was making Neotoxin they were taking donations at one time, and that was gonna be a pretty tight homebrew, to bad the development stopped.  Cry

But yeah, I wouldn't mind paying $100 for a hack to be finished, hell I'd pay even $200. I'd give DahrkDaiz that cash if that woulda give'im inspiration to finish Luigi vs. Mario.  Wink
