I have reached the limit of my beginner Romhacking abilities,I managed to make some pretty cool alterations to the game .But to go to the next level is gonna take a lot of time and patience that I dont really have . I figure that maybe I should just pay a Romhack master to come up with the certain hacks that i require.

What would be a reasonable price for..say....altering the prices of car equipment on Rock n Roll Racing for SNES ?  (I still didnt manage to do that)  - $50 - $100  ? or finding the relevent spot in the rom for me so i can change it myself.

Something more complex and therefore more expensive would be adding an extra charge or fire power  capacity on Rock n Roll Racing cars. I have managed to find out how to toggle the charge capacity and firepower capacity on the various cars to give eg.) the Marauder nitro ability instead of jumping ability or the Airblade jumping ability instead of nitro ability. But I am unable to enable a car to have both jumping ability AND nitro ability. That to my mind would require adding data to the rom .
I figure if someone could do that it would be worth $400 - $500 to me.

Any comments?

Umm... isn't paying someone to ROM hack a bit silly?

Anyway this log might help as it teachs you how to trace the stuff you want

if you charge cash, your stuff will most likely be distributed anyways, this is the internet, and that seems to be the way things work, for better or worse

I'm thinking he isn't gonna try to charge for people to play the rom hack, but he's trying to entice someone to help his hack out of love for the game.

0x9ba2 no header aka 81:9ba0 SNES offset is the address of the Rhino Skin upgrade price amount. You can edit it freely.

I'll leave it up to you to determine the format the prices are in and finding the rest purposely for learning experience. It's pretty easy. I'll give you a hint, many prices are nearby.

$100 please.  Tongue

400 or 500 hundred dollars hell if I had that much to spend on rom hacking,
I would hit ebay and get some books like asm for dummies and asm for beginners,
And then I would try and find a book or two on 6502 programing and processors.
Like I would probably buy a better C-64 or a Pet as mine is busted and all me books got water loged.
Anyway why pay money when you can do it for cheaper your self.

Yeah I love that game too much , I would love to learn how to make major alterations to the game but unfortunately I have to make a living instead. Oh, I guess I can slowly accumulate know how ,it'll take years .Maybe I am just impatient ,that's why I would consider paying for it..

Thanks so much Nightcrawler, the cheque is in the mail  Wink   ....  and snesmaster for that info.

I keep dreaming Nintendo will offer a call to ROM hackers to start doing Virtual Console translations. Then I could get paid for an otherwise unrewarding hobby(materially speaking).

You aren't the first person with thoughts like that. But as I told another person when he suggested it, "it'll be a cold day in hell before Nintendo even slightly considers that idea." We're bad people, after all. Grin

--Edit--
In regards to the topic, I'd feel too guilty to accept money for doing something like that. Damn conscience. Tongue

I wouldn't feel guilty about it. These things shouldn't be done on our public forums though.
