That file is not TOSE compressed at all. It's a straight copy from the SNES ROM, so playable characters can be simply edited with a tile editor, while NPCs use the original LZSS.

Hello, it's me again. I'm having trouble finding some sprites. In particular, the sprite that is displayed when she is sucked into that portal thing at the beginning and sent back through time.
Everything is chopped up and/or mirrored, so I can't immediately see where it is. Can anyone help me?

Perhaps you should relabel this thread with the "NSFW" tag, if you know... you're gonna have naughty pixels laying around.

The tiles are chopped up and assembled into sprites by the games engine.
Unfortunately I don't know of an easy way to find which is which.

Edit the initial post, change the subject line and add (NSFW) at the end.

Done.
I'm surprised that there aren't any Chrono Trigger specific sprite editing programs out there (I checked the Utilities section).

Well, I found a Japanese one for changing sprite assembly in the SNES version a few months ago. Edit: Wrong address.

Thanks, but--err--how do I download it? I click the button, takes me to a page, click the link on that page, brings be back to the button, etc.
Is there a confirmation code or something like MegaUpload? I don't know any Moonspeak.

Thanks, but I got this error when I tried to run it:
AppName: chronocharview.exe\t AppVer: 0.0.0.0\t ModName: chronocharview.exe ModVer: 0.0.0.0\t Offset: 000024c2
Also had something to do with this file:
2ed9_appcompat.txt
Were you able to run it on English XP? Or do I need to install Japanese or something?
And does the program display the sprites exactly as they appear in the game?
EDIT: Nevermind. Only works on ROM.BIN.

Hello again.
Is there a way to zoom in and possibly import sprites from another .bmp file with this program? I don't know Moonspeak so I will need a step by step guide on navigating the menus.

The program generally is capable of importing bitmaps from the clipboard. However, it seems to have trouble with the format of stuff that modern graphics programs put into the clipboard. It can paste its own stuff just fine. However, looking at it a bit, it documents all offset and sizes in the info window. Judging from the sizes, most of this stuff is uncompressed in the rom, so you should be good to go with a traditional editor like this site hosts. On a side note, your constant lamenting about "moonspeak" seems unappreciative. Just install Japanese fonts and use Applocale or similar products. Then get very basic kana skills and read the readme, which was provided and pretty much covers all menu entries. cYa, Tauwasser
