isn't the Saturn version of Policenauts supposedly better? from your comments on JunkerHQ the PSX version was basically an emulated Saturn version, but I'm guessing that version would have an entirety of its own hacking hurdles too if you did decide to work on it

And I wouldn't go near it anyway. The damn thing is FIVE DISCS LONG...
Mother of God, really?! Isn't it just a dating sim? Rhys, the Saturn version does include a couple new scenes, but to my knowledge, it came out after the PSX version, so it was more like they were both direct ports of the PC98 version. I dunno, I've seen some of the extra content. There's more boob grabbing at any rate.

Mother of God, really?! Isn't it just a dating sim? "Just"? There's several girls to date, and I guess there's a lot of spoken dialogue. Actually, now that I look again, I have part two, not one. Oops.

Bet you're glad to have that out of the way, eh? What's next for you?
No idea. It's a shame because Tokemeki Memorial for the PSX has the exact same engine... ...but I've honestly got like no interest in translating it. Interested in Atelier Marie? <_< Wonder how different that is... *runs away* Anyway, congrats on finishing! Sounds like it was a huge project. I've heard of this game before, it sounds great, maybe I'll finally get to try it out now.

So the PC-98 version is the version with the most content? Man Kojima had a real habit of porting his earlier games to every console in existence

Apparently when I merged the topics some of the post became out of order (because of when they were posted) my apologies if a few post on page 3 look out of whack, they are =p

If anybody's interested, I'm writing up... something. I guess it's something like a tech doc for Policenauts, except... well, I'm not experienced enough to write up a for-real ROMhacking document, but I felt like the challenges in doing this project ranged enough from the very easy to the very hard, such that it might be an interesting read. If you can think of ways that it could be made better, or maybe even think it's not useful at all, I'd love any criticism on it: Tentative title: How I Stopped Griping and Learned To Love the ROM: Part 1Part 2They're just drafts and of course, I'm not done, but... eh. Edit by DS: Fixed the second link. ^_~ I'm bumping this to save it from the board pruning of '10. If no one's submitted this to be put in the docs section, I might just do that. ~DS

I was planning on continuing it, but work and stuff got in the way. I liked writing it and I'd like to continue, so... maybe soon, actually. Should I post in this topic as more gets completed or...?

I actually really enjoyed reading the first two parts, so by all means, post the next ones as they're completed! Not only is it really cool to read about the process of the Policenauts hacking, as well as your own thought process, the docs also struck me as very relevant to hacking in general. The fact that I could actually follow them, being pretty much hacking-ignorant, really helped. I actually learned stuff!

It's also a nice guide for those who never dealt with disc-based systems (like me ). Keep on good work - I join those rooting for you
