When nothing other then a title screen is hacked, do we always place them in translations? Or is it a case by case basis?

More or less, we just use whatever the person submitted it as. Arguing over whether a titlescreen hack is a translation or a hack is just nitpicking and a waste of time. It's usually no problem. If the titlescreen was Japanese and now it's English, it's usually submitted as a translation. All other cases are typically submitted as hacks.

Even though personally, I don't like titlescreen-only patches and don't download most, I wouldn't want them to be discouraged. It's good for new people, as a first step into romhacking.

I would only find the title screen only stuff intresting if there is no other Japanese text. No other Japanese text maeks the Title Screen the only thing in Japanese... there may not be much of a point, but I think it's perfectly OK, provided it's only the Title Screen. If it isn't, then they better look harder...

You know, I did in fact. I don't know why the TITLE bugs me so much but it does. So thank you. I think I got OCD or something.

I used a patch that changed the titlescreen to the Japanese one (or a translated one, whatever). Its annoying to see the game called Final Fantasy Legends II in the game and everywhere else as SaGa II. >_> Only thing that bugs me is that currency is still in Katakana, but meh, I understand it.

I guess even titlescreens can bug people out huh? Even when its such a minimal part of a game.

In the case of Gameboy games, and most NES games, the titlescreen is actually the one part of the game you'll see the most.

Case in point: Contra. Every time you lose (which, due to its difficulty, is very often), you get sent back to the titlescreen. And, of course, every time you reset, or first turn it on (which, due to its awesomeness, is very often)

This is ignoring the fact that Contra already has an awesome titlescreen. Just imagine: if it had a terrible titlescreen, this site would be swimming with patches that attempt to fix it.
