So downloaded the UPS patcher and just about ever Der Langrisser rom possible, but i always run into 1 of 2 errors-
1.invalid file
2.invalid checksum ID

Now, there is a english patch already out that I have tried, but its downright sad. Apparently, the translator was quite lazy since the game in terribly broken english and I just can't stand it, I'd rather it be in japanese. So help out please Wink

I think you just need to find a good rom (cause you're error say's invalid file)

That is exactly what I thought, but theres no way all of these roms are bad. I mean I've downloaded it a least 8X from completely different emulation sites, I've yet to have a single one that works.

You do realize that most rom sites just copied each other's collection at some point? One was the first and the others just followed. It's only natural you'll find the same stuff everywhere.

The wrong id message isn't just for fun. The ROM is not the right one Period. Does the patcher automatically remove a potential header?

Also ... this question might seem very stupid but you never know around these parts of the net. You know most ROMs you'll get from the net are archived and need to be unpacked before you can patch them? Most emulators run them from within the archive so you might not notice...

I alway extract the files before running the rom. I do know many rom sites just copy each other which is why the right rom is so hard to find.

I'm interested in this rom header removal, my patcher apparently doesn't do it for me, so how would I do it manually?

Also, you need a specific version of the ROM. Check the readme, then just google "Der Langrisser (J)" to find a good ROM.

Kingmike, I just used the snestool to remove the head, the file is perfect in accordance to the readme file but I still get the invalid checksum. This rom IS the mentioned in the readme also. My result is still the blantant quote"input checksum is invalid. WTF is wrong?!!!??! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I downloaded "Der Langrisser (J)(V1.1)"
It has a checksum (CRC32) of 35F9EECC. Look for that in ZSNES/SNES9X. If it doesn't have that value, it's not the right ROM.

I'm going to assume the NSRT labeled good version is the one used for this patch (though someone should confirm). You can check with NSRT that your ROM is valid. Not to mention it will give you the CRC32 KingMike just spoke about. NSRT is available on our site.

Eh, Nightcrawler! Funny this I just put a translation request of either Monster Maker 3(snes) or metal max 2(snes, being done by AGTP, but progress has not been made in 2 yrs)on your forum, I know its not active but I though well might as well try since it seem people visit every couple of days, so since ran into you here could you honor my request?

Thats my problem, my checksum rate is always FAIL, everywhere I go, I never can find one with a good checksum. I mean, I don't even get a #, znes just shows a checksum FAIL everytime I try one. Sad

Last time I checked, the readme has all the info you need on this subject, just because something is not what you are used to, does not mean it is bad.

FYI,I have read the entire readme file and it say nothing about changing checksums, or where to find a copy of a correct checksum version of Der Langrisser. Also don't assume in disparity I'd be stupid enough not pick apart ever piece of readme file, I have and alas it does not contain a corrected checksum copy of Der Langrisser.

I was referring to the fact that you may need to use a different patching method, as I said do not assume because something is different, that IT is wrong.

Do not assume everything in romhacking is as straightforward as IPS.

Sorry for the blatant jab, but I dislike being bested.

I should have asked much earlier I am sorry, what emulator are you using?
