Well, good luck contacting this guy! =)

In the mean time do you think I could persuade you to help with my project??? =D

Not to go too far off-topic but since we were discussing the Rockman 5 Endless hack, I threw up an archive of previous versions here (layout will be improved at a later date, I just forced it into my news template for the time being), and there are some screenshots and movies in this topic at Slick if anyone's interested.

Very interesting! I'll probably need some of this info for my own hack. =)

I'm not gonna try contacting him. The NSF's are out there if anyone wants them.

I've also realized that S3M2NSF's way of translating S3M notes to NSFs is extremely inefficient, just by converting my NSF's to MIDI. The triangle channel retriggers notes like crazy, and the square channels are all portamento when they shouldn't be.

Also, the source code to S3M2NSF is out there (it comes with the software), so if anyone really wants to use my NSF's in their music, they can reprogram s3m2nsf to suit their needs and support their audio driver for the game..hell maybe they could even reprogram it to work with the Mega Man sound driver? I dunno.

Also Vanya I don't think I'll be able to help you out..I really wish I could, but I've got a 9-5 job and am going to Vancouver in a few weeks, not to mention that I'll be looking for a new career and such..If I find some free time I'll see if I can make some music for you but I won't be able to do a full on project. I apologize.

Sorry to bump my old topic, all. I've done a lot of Mega Man 9 soundtrack work.

I'm almost done remaking the entire soundtrack. Heh. Wow.

I've also included the original S3M sources..S3M2NSF's limitations are really shining through.

Okay, I've been away for a while. I've got some more music.

I'm actually only 2 songs away from completing the entire soundtrack: Splash Woman and Ending Credits music. Smiley

It's here for anyone interested:

I was going to ask if you had made any more progress today! Glad to see you did! ^_^

Yeah. Splash Woman is going to be one of the hardest to remake, despite it's apparent simplicity. It's got some echoes going on which I'm going to have to study to make sure I don't screw up. It's only using 4 channels, but sounds like it's using 5. Oy. Not to mention pitch bends and volume fade-ins are nasty to replicate in S3M. .. I think the next one I do will be the ending credits, then I'll figure something out for Splash Woman.

Oh, forgot to mention I also revamped a lot of the old ones..fixed resolution for some triangle slides, and even fixed the accuracy of some effects (like Wily Stage 2's).. Unfortunately they sound more accurate in S3M, because the NES sound chip just can't replicate the speed properly due to it's limitations. :/ Oh well, it came close!

Since the MP3 were taken down, I've been enjoying your recreations. I kind of like them better anyway because they are real NES sounds. ^_^

Haha well I'm glad you're enjoying them so much.

The soundtrack is fully complete. I no longer have any plans working on anymore MM9 stuff, even though there's not much else to do. NO I will not make the sound effects. Tongue I tried. Haha.

WooHoo!! ^_^

I don't blame you about the sound effects. I bet it'd be a hassle to get the new sfx working. Plus, a lot of the sfx used in the game are simulations of sfx from previous MM games.

Haha well I could remake it..the sfx are all in different NSFs, and if I slow down the speeds, I'm sure I can remake them one by one. But I don't want to. I could make the MM9 new sfx as well, which would require much more work but..again, I don't want to.

Hmm Well it seems I figured out how to make a multiple NSF with all the S3M's into one big NSF.. think I should do one last release? Tongue hehe
