So I've been remaking some Mega Man 9 songs lately in NSF format (technically S3M module format converted to NSF)..I'm not using FamiTracker, which outputs as NSFs and BINs..but my question is, would anyone who's making an NES Mega Man hack with Mega Man 9 style levels/challenges (Endless Attack?) like to use these songs somehow? Is it possible to inject NSF music into ROM hacks changing the music in these Mega Man games? Anyway for anyone who's interested in hearing the songs themselves, here they are. Only thing I ask is for credit, that's all. Lemme know what you think. -Mathew Valente [TSSF] EDIT: Fixed subject

Unless you recode a MM game to use whatever engine your sequencer does (A massive task), you're basically facing inserting the tracks by hand. "By hand" I mean in raw hex, or via a custom made utility you'd have to make.

Well I guess it's possible just not very plausible! Ah well. Should anyone wish to take the task on, these songs ARE here. Any other songs anyone'd like me to do?

I'm interested! I'm actually working on a new hack of Mega Man 5 and I'll need some Mega Man Powered Up songs converted to nsf. Is that something you'd interested in? =D The Project is called Mega Man Powered Down and is an 8-bit adaptation of the PSP remake. this is the project thread at Board 2: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=4107

I'm kind of confused as to what you're actually looking for? NES representations of the Mega Man Powered Up music? That might be harder than usual to do..it would be better to take Mega Man 1's music and turn it into a Mega Man 3/4/5/6/9 style maybe?

that is my plan for the music that already existed in MM1. But, for the additional songs that don't have a counter part in MM1 I need 8-bit versions. For example the themes for Timeman and Oilman don't exist in 8-bit. They would require much more work I guess.

I've been searching for MP3's of the soundtrack to no avail. I did, however, throw this together real quick: http://tssf.gamemusic.ca/temp/test.nsf

Okay if I get bored I'll do Time Man and that other one.. Hehe. I was hoping someone was going to do an NES rendition of Endless Battle and would want to use the remade music I did for it.. I guess there's still hope! But anyway yeah..that Special Stage music I redid also is a fun song that I would love to see in an actual NES rendition too!

I was actually thinking that the Endless Fight patch would be even cooler if the stages were redone with the MM9 tiles. With the new tiles and your music it would be pure win! =)
Have you tried contacting the author of the RM5-EF patch?

Maybe PM his user account?
BTw, I never commented on the MM9 songs you posted! Excellent work, dude! They're spot on! If you ever convert the rest of the songs I may consider doing a MM9 based hack! =)

Maybe PM his user account? He doesn't have one, I added that hack after kuja killer posted it at another forum I lurk. There's yet another new version out, the guy must release updates daily or something, this one adds a cool results screen.

No rock5easily has no contact info of any sort. He'll only post on 2ch, and if he ever does, it's almost impossible to know what post is his because absolutely "no one" ever identifies themself. I have talked to him once or twice before several months ago, and he was able to understand my english surprinslgly but only will respond in complete japanese only.

Vanya, thanks for the comments! I thrive on comments like that, makes me want to continue doing what I do. Dragonsbrethren: I'm trying to find emails on his rock5easily websites.. TONS of information about Rock Man 3 to 6, even an NSF swap tool (Yes, I tried throwing my NSFs in there to play them with Rock Man 4/5 and 6 but they all crash) Kuja Killer: That sucks..Oh well. I don't know how I'm going to get these NSFs to him, the only real way I guess is to post them around, maybe even up at Zophar.net..I'm pretty tight with the guy who runs it (or at least used to be back in the day) so maybe he'll post them there. They're not really game rips, per say..but they're pretty darn accurate to be mistaken for some! Hehe.
