You're kidding me. o_o
This is one of my most wanted translations, and now I REALLY want to know more about this project. Konraad, where do you post updates and such? Have you got a blog or web page? Are you going to post updates on this thread? Do you intend to release a full translation patch on the future or are you just doing it for learning purposes? Do you already have a translator? Or are you translating it yourself? OH MY GOD, I NEED ANSWERS <o>

I always wondered; how come with all those hackers and translating groups localizing games left and right and some titles actually get translated multiple times by different groups....but nobody even CONSIDERED translating this pretty cool RPG.
Is it because it's an rpg? and rpgs usually a pain to deal with? or is it that Growlanser series is so under ground that nobody actually noticed it?
anyway, I thank you konraad for choosing this game as your project, and wish you all the luck in smooth hacking this game.

There should more typo-fixing patches. Many official US versions have minor things that deserve fixing, but don't warrant an all-out retranslation.

Well lol I actually tried Growlanser once, but couldn't find any text, which is why I think I gave it up.

To answer the earlier questions, I currently am not keeping my information posted anywhere. I don't wanna create a hype over a project I just started a few months ago. I do intend to first release a patch that translates the menus/skills, then later release a patch for all of disk one.
I know some assembly and understand hacking at a moderate level, but do not expect this to finish quickly.
On a side note, I've completed part of the opening, but I've hit a small snag where I was thinking of using an area of memory that was full of zeros for space, but once I pass the original end location the game crashes /shrug I'll figure it out eventually.
Well lol I actually tried Growlanser once, but couldn't find any text, which is why I think I gave it up. I had that same problem for a long time, until I discovered that all my assumed hex tables were backwards in the source. ex. I thought A = 0x0011, but instead it was 0x1100, confused the hell out of me for quite a while.

It would be nice. There's a few games I can think of for which I would love the opportunity to touch up the existing script. Not because I dislike said script, but because typographical errors and misspelled words irritate me.

Well I've officially figured out all the pointers/pointer locations I wanted in order to hack the spells/abilities and their descriptions (in two different files no wonder I couldn't find the spell names :banghead:), and have in turn written a program in order to extract the data properly. If I have time, I should have a patch for them released in the near~ish future, unless I run into some unanticipated problems.
If anyone happens to know any GS codes of the like that unlock all spells/abilities I would be very appreciative; save me time to already have all the moves then to have to find and hack it myself.

Thought this was already released by Atlus, but Gamefaqs data states otherwise. I can't help with the project, but I wish you good luck.

Yeah, the only Growlanser games available in some form in the US are Growlanser II, III and V. II and III are available as Growlanser Generations and V is available as Heritage of War.
