I'm actually surprised no one has considering how many knots it ties O.o. It was the last canon Megaman Classic game in the series.

It basically revolves around the story of one of the game's recurring bosses - Quint. Quint appeared in two of the Gameboy games in the series, and he was actually created from a scrapped body of Megaman in the future. Dr.Wily traveled to the future, found megaman dead, and redesigned him to be Quint. He then sent Quint back in time to attack the past.

In this game, a robot named M-Shadow (R-Shadow in Japanese, R standing for Rock) appears claiming to be Quint and attacks the Earth with robots from the future called the Dimensions.

It's a very ironic story, considering the high probability that Zero, also Wily's creation, killed both Megaman and Bass before being put in stasis with the Maverick/Zero virus.

More likely, people presume the WonderSwan sucks. Granted, they might be right as far as the system itself goes (I've only played it once, wasn't particularly impressed) but as an emulation platform, it's decent. I'm working on a translation of a WonderSwan RPG called Nigeronpa and it's going rather well, basic 24bit pointers that I was able to remap to point to an additional 1MB of space I tacked on to the end of the ROM and it worked with no additional modifications.

you'll immediately notice the cavespeak below the first paragraph, but that'll be translated soon.

this is tough having to constrict sentences to a few words so they can fit >.<

It isn't a rom, it was a PC game released in China. It is extremely rare and chances are it will never be translated into English because of the fact it is a PC CD.

Other than the game I'm translating, that's the only one.

Raccoon Sam hasn't been heard from for about two weeks, and the other guy who is translating this game has been working on it since December and still hasn't posted anything new on the forums I've checked. So, once this is done I'll publicly release it.

PC games are well within the realm of hackability.

I thought Nigeronpa was a NeoGeo Pocket game?
As I understand WS bankswapping CPU address space (20-bit Intel-clone) $20000-2FFFF and $30000-3FFFF can be mapped to any 64K ROM bank, but $40000-FFFFF must be mapped to a ROM segment $x40000-xFFFFF.

I know this is true from experience, but this would probably take a lot of graphics work as well, which would require you to find a way to decompress the graphics files from the game. Unless Capcom (or the primary developer, perhaps Capcom just published it) released modding tools, which I doubt, it will be near impossible to edit those files for a perfect localization. The encryption methods on those files would be far more advanced than anything seen on an 8-bit or 16-bit console.

I'll also again reiterate how extremely rare that game is. Acquiring a copy would be a hassle, and distribution of a hack would also be a hassle.

That's the other reason nobody hacks Wonderswan games, they get confused and end up hacking NGPC games instead. (In other words, yeah, Nigeronpa is NGPC. Star Hearts was the WS RPG I started hacking but didn't get too far into. I think I found the text but never bothered to make a table.)

Well I was looking at SRW C2-1 and found out that it's all uncompressed. Everything is there, script, battle text. I also found that the game already has an English font, but it has these control codes which affect the text. Like F2 (or was it F1) causes those " to appear above a character and then F3-5 (6?) allow more different characters to appear (katakana? the Chinese characters).

And then there's the space problem

Alright, I'm having another problem I have no idea how to resolve >.<

I'm trying to translate the savescreen text, and I need to be able to edit it obviously to do that. Unfortunately, when I relative search for it, I get no results:

I've tried with and without wildcards. It also can't be another problem like the title screen was because the alphabet in-game is in order instead of having a weird top-to-bottom shift. Any suggestions?
