It was recommended to me that I cross-post this here. I'm looking for help with a translation I'm working on. I'm not much of a graphic designer, so I won't be able to edit the title screen of the game on my own.

Here's how it looks in the game:

And this is a sketch for the translation:

It would be cool if there's someone who could create the English title, etc. with fitting fonts while keeping the Chinese characters. It's not unlikely that more than one line will be needed for the English title, in that case it'd be no problem to move the Chinese up. Only things that can't be changed are the resolution and color palette (the original is in PCX format, but it seems the forum can't display that directly: http://www.derboo.de/files/romance_titlescreen.pcx)

My guess is because it's so archaic.
Oddly even MS Paint refuses to open it (PCX originated in PC Paint, which Windows Paint was a license of).
Photoshop opens it, but maybe it's just because I'm using an oldass version I got for free years ago (5.0LE).

It’s not really because it’s archaic so much as because it isn’t really a web-standard format (it is also space-inefficient, being RLE’d, though not quite as much as BMP is, which used to be a point of contention back in the 90s if the books I read back then were correct... of course, it was a moot point back then, too).

CS5 still opens it. It is not a difficult format to implement; that’s why it was popular back in the day.

Turns out there's no need to deal with the PCX format, it's possible to simply convert the resulting file back an insert it into the game files.

No oxygen, atmosphere, rain, soil, etc?
Realize this is science fiction, not science fact.

OR

How, pray tell, do lightsabers work?

You asked "why aren't there more gardens in space?" in a non-science-fiction kind of way and I answered in a non-science-fiction kind of way.

Now, if you wanted the science fiction answer, I would say: "because humanity still hasn't invented XXXX device". Replace the Xs with whatever fictional device of your choosing.

Biosphere 3! Grin

Ha! Non-fiction answer to a fictional-based question in a non-contributing way. Undecided\

Edit:

Bwa! Limited character spaces can't stop me now! Quite readable, too! Wink Shocked

My first success in doing something with a DS game.  That says "HI!", not "Hl!".  That's the in-game font being used.  Never understood why certain fonts have the uppercase I and the lowercase l look the same.

Out with the old and in with the new.

That font doesn't fit at all with that game. It was nice in Final Mission, but not for this game.

Yes. I'd go with something not so squarish and computer-looking.

Yeah, how about these ones if you want something with a bit more style?

I really love your font, Pennywise, but it looks like it'd be more suitable for a sci-fi shooter like Zanac.

Why not use the in-game's font?

I'm a purist, I kno. Sad

Rey's first selection doesn't look too bad, but I wouldn't choose the Simpsons one. Just my opinion. Smiley

This one's looking pretty good right now. Most of the text is inserted.
