Sorry, folks, I'm not so sure where to place this topic.

The following sets have yet to be verified if they're dumpable or not:

Dungeon Master (This might be fixable... I found a set online that contains a collection of SPCs, and they're not from Zophar!) (A small warning: This uses a DSP-2 chip.)
Great Waldo Search (Steel Talons, another game you can't dump SPCs from, uses the same organ-like sample as this game uses it.)
James Bond Jr (I actually think this is an undumpable game because I've looked up three other games that were composed by the person involved in this game; Ren and Stimpy: Veediots!, Wayne's World, and Terminator. His name is Peter Stone.)
NHL '94 (The EA sports game at around this time period were creating games that you can't dump SPCs from without first-note sticking problems.)
Paperboy 2 (In some way, the slap bass sample sounds just like one from James Bond Jr.)
Pit Fighter (Same thing; this also uses the same slap bass sample from James Bond Jr.)
Universal Solider (Considering this game was made by Ballistics, I'm assuming this is undumpable. But don't consider that so fast...)
Relief Pitcher (This is by Left Field Entertainment, and Steel Talons, also by Left Field Entertainemnt, was declared undumpable. Therefore, I think this game is undumpable.)
Andre Agassi Tennis (This is actually fixable... I bet it is. TecMagic makes these SPCs tricky to dump because when you dump them, they fade out right when you play them, but I got almost every last one from Pink Panther with no problems at all by dumping them at the loop point, which was right at the start. There was only one that I couldn't grab without using the patch. It's not availible yet, as I dumped this for SNESMusic.org.)
Commodore 64 Collection (This should be undumpable; Caitsith2 told me Sidmania was undumpable, so my assumption is that this one is also undumpable.)
NBA Showdown

These have a volume problem and a first-note sticking problem (occasionally), which means the music sometimes plays too quietly. This is caused by a volume fade that stays at the current volume it's at instead of fading in.

Adventures of Dr. Franken (I sucessfully dumped a few tracks before I ran into a track where I couldn't grab it at the first note. In Adventure of Dr. Franken's case, when I try to dump it at the first note, I get silence in the SPC.)
Dragon's Lair (The set has been released on Zophar and SNESMusic.org, and it has most of the SPCs. I'm in progress of redumping most of the SPCs, but I can't grab the Ending, which doesn't have a loop point at the start of the song, without a first-note sticking problem.)
Jim Lee's WildC.A.T.S (If you dump it at the first note, the tunes play too quietly for all of the notes to be heard.)
NHL '95 (This happens only when you begin the game after setting up the game.)
NHL '96 (Same thing, only with a different tune.)
NHL '98 (Same thing, with the same tune as NHL '96.)

Could someone try to hack these so that the SPCs dump properly without the volume/first-note sticking problems? If they're undumpable, that means that they probally use streaming samples, of which I've heard of in other locations.

If you do have a hack, please provide it in IPS form. I'm a Mac user, so I can't take the NINJA format patches.

Sorry if I violated anything...

In theory hacking should be possible with vSNES... I've never tried to do that though.

Hmm... here's a catch; I'm a Mac user, not a Windows user. I don't think vSNES is Mac compatible. Well, also, some of this stuff could use streaming samples, like some of the first-note sticking tracks.

New sets that I added to the problematic list:

John Madden Football (This is only at the Electronic Arts logo. I think it deals with faulty loop points, but it might be something else. It never gets to the end, and stays frozen at a part.)
MLBPA Baseball (Same problem as some other sets; this has volume problems.)
Marko's Magic Football (Reported as a first-note sticking set. Please note that I was unable to get the game working past the Acclaim logo at the start of the game; the game froze, including the music, after the logo faded to black.)
International Tennis Tour (Same problem as some other sets; this has volume problems.)

I would think ideally to tackle these games and get music out of them you'd want to play them on an actual TV and record the audio output. Then convert it to mp3, ogg, etc. probably easier than coming up with an individualized solution to each of those games.

You could also use bsnes' audio logging feature.

Or... I could use some audio hijack application. I already did this for Pit Fighter and Ren and Stimpy - Veediots! I ripped them into AIFF format using WireTap Pro (not WireTap Studio; which doesn't have some freebie features that last forever unlike WireTap Pro), and then I use Cacophony (shareware with no limitations, just a nag screen) to edit the audio. Then, I convert them to MP3 when ready. Currently, only one has been faded and timed properly (Pit Fighter Main Theme, the only track in the entire game); it had to have three channels muted to block out sound effects. I used an infinite health code to make sure I would last all the way through, and then timed the song up to two loops. As for Ren and Stimpy - Veediots, which was already declared undumpable, I grabbed the Title Screen by tapping the buttons, then playing 'till the end. Any track that I upload with no fade applied loops at the start.

Speaking of which, I got a faster mac to do the job. I now have a iMac G5. I don't have an Intel Mac because I dislike losing the OS 9 compatibility. The slower 300 MHz G3 was giving me difficulties; the music slowed down when using the application. That meant that I could possibly play it at normal speeds, but not rip it at normal speeds. Speaking of which, here's a list of tracks I have ripped:

Pit Fighter
- In-Game Music (Actually the Main Theme - this is the only piece of music in the entire game. There's no music at the Title Screen at all or when you select a fighter.)
Composer: THQ Sound Team. There is no composer listed, so this is my assumption. I took this method from SNESMusic.org.

Ren and Stimpy - Veediots!
- Title Screen (Unless you press some buttons, it fades.)
- The Boy Who Cried Rat (Level 1)
- Danger (Levels 1 parts 2 and 4 [part 3 is a boss] and Level 4 part 1)
- In The Army (Level 2)
- Stimpy's Invention (Level 3)
Composer: Peter Stone. I know who the composer is, because I've beaten the game.

I have yet to rip:

Ren and Stimpy - Veediots!
- Level Intro (Unless all of the encounters with this track fade, this will be a looping one.)
- Boss Theme (I know of only one place to properly get this theme; the final boss. This will allow for SFX to be minimal.)
- Space Madness (Level 4 part 2)
- Clear Level (I will be able to get this, but I've missed it more than once. I'll try again.)
- Happy Happy Joy Joy (This occurs at the Credits and the Continue? screen)

Wayne's World (another undumpable SPC set game I've beaten)
- No Stairway to Heaven (Level 1)
- Restaurant (Level 2)
- Gasworks (Level 3)
- The Streets: Platforming Edition (Level 4)
- Zantar the Gelatinous Cube (Final Boss)
- Wayne & Garth Intermission (This occurs between each levels.)
- Movie Footage (There might be three different variations of this; I'm not so sure.)
- Beat Final Boss
Composer: Peter Stone and Nick Eastridge.

Paperboy 2
- In-Game Music (There's no Title Screen music nor is there music before you get to the actual game; you might hear SFX.)
- Training Course
Composer: Tengen Sound Team. This is because the credits are missing from the game.

Relief Pitcher (not beaten; therefore list is incomplete)
- Select Team
- Batter Up! (I'm going to have to use some channel muting to get this one. This only occurs when a game is about to start, after selecting teams.)
Composer: Left Field Entertainment Sound Team. This is because I haven't found the composer yet.

Steel Talons (not beaten; therefore list is incomplete)
- Title Screen
- Select Plane (I know this occurs after you press start, but when it stops I'm not so sure.
- In-Game Music
Composer: Left Field Entertainment Sound Team. This is because I haven't found the composer yet.

NHL '94 (not beaten; therefore list is incomplete)
- Title Screen
- Set Up Game
Composer: Hmm... I know it's on the Title Screen. Must have forgotten.

Universal Solider (unreleased game) (not beaten; therefore list is incomplete)
- Title Screen
- Level Intro
- Level 1
- Level 2

Great Waldo Search
- Title Screen (Also played in the Credits and the Waldo Super Challenge.)
- Land of the Gargantuas (Name was taken from manual that was scanned by someone else)
- Water Monks vs. Fire Druids (Name was taken from manual that was scanned by someone else)
- Kingdom of the Carpet Flyers (Name was taken from manual that was scanned by someone else)
- The Enchanted Underground (Name was taken from manual that was scanned by someone else)
- You Lost!
Composer: Doug Brandon. Jeff Barry composed the Title Screen.

Total tracks:
Pit Fighter: 1 (complete)
Ren and Stimpy - Veediots: 10 (5 ripped)
Wayne's World -  8? (none ripped)
Great Waldo Search - 6 (may be more)
Paperboy 2 - 2 (none ripped)
Everything else: Don't know.

If any of them have been uploaded, I'll let you know.

Some day, these will be available in a SNSF format, and I know the site for some of the sets. Look here.

I used an emulator to grab the music. That would be SNES9X. I don't have the actual games, with the exception of Paperboy 2. But still, I'd prefer using an emulator.

SNESMusic.org has a list of "unemulatable" SPC sets. Some of them can be patched with an IPS to get them working, while others just won't work for reasons I'm not qualified to explain. You might want to check it out.

I already checked there, so I know what sets are dumpable in SPC form and what isn't. SNSF covers the undumpable stuff.

Speaking of which, I have uploaded the only piece of music that plays in Pit Fighter throughout the entire game.

Pit Fighter Main Theme - Download here! (The track is an estimated 3:15 long, that is 3 minutes and 15 seconds. This is to accomodate for two loops plus a fade. This is because although the tune loops at the start, it adds a note when it loops at the very start. In other tracks I've run into, I haven't had that problem. The samples used are actually a recipe for undumpable games; I've seen several other games to use a slap bass that sounds like that.)

I'll post first-note sticking SPCs here to see if anyone's intrested in investigating these SPCs.

Pit Fighter
Main Theme - First-Note Sticking

Universal Solider
Title Screen - First-Note Sticking

Super Uno
Hey, we have a winner! - First-Note Sticking (none of the other SPCs do this yet)

Mario's Early Years
Title Screen - First-Note Sticking (all three games in the series have the same title screen music)

New MP3 Rips:

Ren and Stimpy Veediots!
1. Title Screen
2. Level Intro
3. The Boy Who Cried Rat
4. Danger
5. Boss Theme
6. Level Clear
7. In The Army
8. Stimpy's Invention
9. Space Madness
10. Happy Happy Joy Joy

OK, curiosity time:

How am I supposed to patch SPCs? That's got me curious... because I have the IPS files, but I have no idea how to work 'em on emulator or SPCs. I have a Mac IPS patcher program, but it's no good as far as I know. As for the SPCs, the first few bytes are overwritten rather than the correct bytes that make the SPC play properly without first-note sticking problems. I have no idea what to do to apply the patch, but if I knew where to apply this stuff, perhaps I could get this stuff working.

Trying this on an emulator was no good, as all it did was either no fixes, or startup failure.

You patch an SPC file the same as you patch any other file with IPS. Use a patcher to apply the patch. You need an IPS patching utility. I don't use a mac, so I can't recommend any. You won't be able to use an emulator for this purpose to my knowledge.

Hmm... I've got serious problems using IPS Patcher. The filesize goes down from 64 KB to a mere 36 KB when patching the SPC. So guess what? I used a classic Mac application, IPS Patcher, to do the job, and got good results. Problem solved.

Mac Users: Please use IPS Patcher, a classic application. Sorry OS X users, the IPS Patcher for the OS X stinks for SPCs.

Windows Users: Some people recommended Lunar IPS, so I'll also recommend it.

You might want to make note of that in the database for the utility you used that didn't work right (IPS Patcher?) so the next guy having patching problems will know he should skip to the one that does. It's certainly worthwhile to have questionable utilities labeled as such in their descriptions to prevent unnecessary headaches and problems for people.

So, for the OS X version of IPS Patcher, it should be noted that it is not recommended for SPCs.

No. IPS doesn't care what you patch. It's not SPCs specifically. The program just has bugs in the code and doesn't work right with files of that size (if it actually works with files of any size to begin with!). Has anyone ever gotten that program to work right on anything?
