Instead of screenshots, links to YouTube video clips containing gameplay footage of ROM-hacks are to be made in this thread.

Some sadistic level designer hacked a Super Mario Bros. ROM to make it nearly impossible to play. Gameplay footage here.

I believe this has already been posted and heavily discussed in another thread.

...

We already have a screenshot thread. Videos are allowed there too. There's no reason for two threads to exist.

If other mods agree... I vote to lock this.

Then rename the Screenshots thread, please.

i've typed up about 3 different responses to this, and i can't find the 'right' one, so i will go with the simplest one.

ok that makes 4 time now... more simple... more simple...

Screenshots = short sweet, and to the point, point being, post the work you've done, weather it be a screenshot of a game, a print screen of a hacking tool, or a video that is rellevant.

 anyways, i had a leave of absence here, but i doubt any one noticed, was only about 2 weeks i think.. i was going through withdrawls from some medication that i had been taking for a few years...   Undecided\ and now i remember why i was on it, i get agitated easy, and tend to 1) babble, and 2) bite peoples heads off.   Grin

to bad not much has happened in these 2 weeks! i was expectiong you know, DQ5r to be done! but nooooooooo!

Do whatever you want with it. I really don't care.

Well screen shots you expect not to have to click a link so you can just scroll past all the mumbo jumbo and just look at the pretty pictures.
Movies you have to click a link after reading wtf it is.
My two cents, note it don't add up to a lot Tongue.

Just a quick 2 cents:
I made a seperate topic for a video from my hack since the stickied thread is called Screenshots. Either the name should be changed or a seperate thread should be made for it, I don't think it should be left as is.

Most of the ROM-Hacking clips are found in my OLD webpage. I don't know when should I move them to Googlepages Undecided\. I've spent time uploading other files instead.

Well, I thought it over after reading everyone's opinion. I do agree that there's a need for a video thread. I'm still not sure if I should merge both topics because video updates will be much less frequent than screenshot updates. Videos could be posted on the thread, and in each project's own thread in the Personal Projects subforum, so people who don't visit one thread or the other can still hear about progress.

But before we go ahead with that, I think there should be some discussion on -how- to record videos. Some of us have no clue at all how to do so!

Any suggestions? Smiley

Edit: I just noticed this thread, so go there to find out how to record stuff. I'll sticky this post and change the title.

I do know Nestopia (NES) allows recording .avi videos (although I think you have to make an emulation movie (gratfied keystroke logger?), then use an option to convert to it AVI).

Paranthesis within paranthesis?! what madness be this!

well its the same with ZSNES the readme says it just records your button strokes, and just hits the same one when you replay it in the emulator, which has lead to some funny things happen:
a glitch happens and your character gets stuck, and just keeps running and jumping and whatnot, but not how you played (i've only experienced this with Super Metroid)
