Ok, who'sthe person SUPPOSEDLY doing this game? Anyone know?
I wrote one person already whom I THOUGHT was doing it, but
that person seems to have "Ignored" my IM. That's all good.

If I had a translator I would do it myself but that is pretty much
a problem I don't wanna solve. So if anyone could point me to the
right person I would appreciate it. Smiley

If finding a translator would get you motivated to hack this game, spread the word and i'm sure we can all help to find you someone. Wink

I'm not bad at Japanese myself, school just won't allow me the time to do justice on any sizable scripts. I once had a very close friend that was working on Daikaijyuu Monogatari for Byuu, unfortunately he disappeared ever since bad family troubles. I would however, still be interested in working on something small my little free time.

Are you still working on or willing to work on some of your old projects that have small scripts.

Thanks for the reply. Smiley
To be honest, I don't think any of my old projects have small scripts. O_o
Double moon is possibly the smallest but that is still pretty big.

Dual Orb does not seem to be that big, but it's big enough.
I have that game pretty much whipped pretty well.

I just decided to kill some time and update some editors I had
been working on in the past. That is why I prefer to help people.
I don't even look for credit most of the time. Hell, I know people I
helped that never acknowledged me at all.

If you CAN help me find someone then I guess I will do it myself. Smiley
Maybe I should try and write up a 'help wanted ad'...

Do you know if Dual Orb's story is connected with Dual Orb II or are they separate stories?

I have no idea. It seems to me to be a typical dungeon crawler.
I don't understand enough of the japanese language to know what's going
on. Not only that, I have yet to play part 2. Sad

Nobody is actively working on Dual Orb 1 to my knowledge.

You can send an archive file to me and I'll put it in the Abandoned Project Work section of RHDN or keep it until somebody wants it since I'm generally the Dual Orb go to guy people go to. Or I can do absolutely nothing at all. Your choice. Wink

I've never done more than offer to assist anybody who was willing to do the bulk of the work since I have full working knowledge of the second game, good working knowledge of the first, and tools and notes for both. The only person to ever do anything serious with that was King Mike. I won't speak for the King, but I don't think he's touched in quite some time nor has ever officially declared he was doing it.

I think there was a 3rd person who's name eludes me that claimed they were going to do some work on it, but nothing ever came of that.

Snatcher:

No. Dual Orb 1's story is not linked to Dual Orb 2s in any way that I know of. That's based on 1.) A personal play though of most of the game 2.) A full walk through, 3.) Discussions with some people fluent in Japanese that have played it.

I really wouldn't mind this game being done. I use to do work on Part 1 & 2
way back when Jay was still around. He actually helped me withthe font routine in 2.
I also have complete tools for this game. That compression routine is a killer, right!  :banghead:

As for adding it to the abandoned archive, that should be the final resting place
don't you think?  Undecided\
And King is the person I actually IM'd who never responded.
I thought you guys were gonna knock this one out. I guess it can wait a bit longer.
In the mean time, have a drink.

I code my utils using Borland C++ Builder 3.0.
All I need to display the japanese text is a Win font file
with japanese font support, a TMemo object, and japanese
encoding enabled.

I figure this can be done in VB as well. I'm not sure that this works
the same in any windows version older than XP. Sad

Yeah, sorry about that. Been busy lately and I didn't remember to reply. Embarrassed I worked on it some awhile ago, but didn't hold my interest very well. The gameplay was kinda generic, and there was alot of level grinding. Good music and decent graphics, though.
But it sounds like you've done alot more than I ever did.

Maybe the reason it doesn't keep people's interest it's because the main character's name is Ralph! That alone makes me want to 'ralph'. *insert made up projectile vomit smiley here*

Well, we've got 3 people now with partial work for the game. So, if somebody does come along who wants to make a serious effort for it, it would be a sure thing to finish. It's only a matter of time.
