On the plus side, Macs don't seem to get afflicted with viruses! Tongue
Cause no one cares to make viruses for them. ITs like making a virus for a betamax tape player, it won't affect nearly as many users as a vhs virus... Even tho I don't think they can get viruses...

it's still technically a pro for macs. but i love how they don't simply fail to mention the corresponding con (that no one writes software for macs, including viruses)... they actually mention it and try to play it off like it's a pro.

That’s because a Mac offers absolutely flawless integration of hardware and software. Only with a Mac do you get a system built by the same people who make the OS, the applications, and the computer itself.

microsoft has adopted much from apple, including their penchant for bullshit (see: silverlight promo video). however, apple still has them trumped in this regard.

I want to see someone asking Apple if they fixed the 2038 problem.

Hehe...  If I am still using a 32bit system by the year 2038, then I deserve to experience the problem.  Cheesy

O_o WTF? So... Software for Macs is only made by Mac? So... HP is owned by Mac or something? (My printer had a Mac installer and a Windows installer.) o_O

Getting back on topic then...

I did manage to find some tools for the mac to utilize.  Unfortunately they are all Dreamcast related.  I'll keep digging though, to see what I can find.

Well, you DID put Boot Camp on there, right? So you should be able to use that (and parellels) until you can uncover what little hacking stuff there is for the Mac.

You can't use Boot Camp on a PPC Mac. It only works on Intel Mac's. Though, he didn't say which one he had.

Yes, I am aware of the fact that Boot Camp only runs on Intel Macs. But honestly, if one is going to be Maccing, one needs to get with the times and get an Intel Mac. There are just too many benefits to it.

Tilemolester works on ppc/intel macs. It will work on any computer that runs java. I'm using it on my g4 ibook right now. The only 'bug' i found is that you can zoom out when using the track pad. You need to use and external mouse, holding down the button wont engage the 2nd button mouse function. other then that it's awesome... Now I'll try dosbox and see how that goes. Hopefully hexposure will work.

and for the people who say macs are garbage, the case always seems to be they never took the time to actually properly use one. granted if you love playing games and coding, macs are probably not for you, but if you love doing anything creative then a mac is light years ahead. Also to the person who said macs are not upgradeable. That is not true. I've upgraded my ibook many times. The only thing you can't really upgrade is the cpu. It's doable but it's a giant hassle.

....

After closer inspection, hexposure seems to work perfectly with dosbox. Maybe I'll write a short FAQ about mac hacking this week. I have enough time to do so...

---

After another intense inspection...

Tile molester works but none of the keyboard commands to. Maybe someone who knows Java and mac programming can fix this, would probably be pretty easy. Maybe I should look into it...

dosbox and hexpose work. so it's pretty awesome.

Now the really shitty part. Making a table in a mac text program won't be read correctly in hexpose. Probably because of the mac encoding. I've tried saving it with windows encoding and all other types, nothing. The only thing that has worked is relative searching in hexpose and saving the table, or creating a table file on my roommates pc and then transferring  that to my mac.

Any other mac hackers out there had any success or work arounds?

There is a new hacking tool on the mac but unfortunately it's only for Super Mario 64. Still fun rom-hacking goodness.
