This has nothing to do with a text hack. What you're asking should be simple, but you should obtain some knowledge of how hexadecimal numbers work first.

The data for the prices should be stored somewhere in the ROM. You'll just have to find out where.

Why don't you just do some searching and make a money cheat? Anyone can do that with very little effort. Wink

Why even bother with that?

Well making a money cheat is very useful as that way you can make your own cheats, plus cheat search will come useful for tracing routines

Do you mean make a money cheat as in, obtain large amounts of money for your character so that it doesn't matter how much everything costs?  IF so ,i already have that .

What I want is to alter the price of things in the game so that in a tournament situation there is strategy in deciding what you actually spend your money on .

At the moment the price of things in RRR is too lopsided so that all anyone wants to buy is bullets since everything else is too expensive.

I have read up on Hex and I have altered some text in the game just for practice at romhacking .The changes were superficial.

I have tried searching for the data for the prices but so far nothing ,I guess it is expected to take a long time to find .I've been experimenting with deleting data all over the place ,hehe ,but the only alteration I am getting is background graphics mutilation . I bet it looks so obvious that I am a noob . Smiley

Someone should make a 'ZOMG!!!!!!! Modify' just like the spell check image. I forget who made that now.

OK ,I've been locked away in my dungeon over the weekend experimenting with the Rock n Racing (U) rom ,and I am kinda proud of what I have figured out . I'm not sure if there is some etiquette about what rom hacks are allowed to be mentioned but I'm sure I'll be told if I commit some faux pas.

I'll just write down some  of my 'discoveries', some of which were found by  converting Game Genie codes to Hex and locating the rom addresses that way thanks to the nifty program by Cheatmaster.

B010    :   controls the money you receive in the tens of thousands at the start of the game.

B011    :   controls the millions column . Up to 10 million possible.

B126    :   change this value to 05 and it gives the Marauder and Dirt Devil nitro capability instead of jumping ability.

To start with a different colour of your choice for your car at the vehicle select screen, including the bad guys colours and multi colours ,you need to alter  AFC5  for Player 1 and AFC6 for Player 2 .

The car colour codes and the nitro ability i found by random searching. It's time consuming but fun when I found them.

Hey everyone .
It's been awhile since I've been here ,good to see the place thriving still . I think this thread would be more appropriate in personal projects since it is to be devoted to all the Rock n Roll Racing hacking I have done and will be doing ,Perhaps a mod could move it .I did find a lot more useful modifications of the rom and I 've written them down elsewhere... The next step is to achieve the holy grail of RRR - 4 player online play  Shocked .It obviously requires replacing the 2 AI cars for real gamers cars aswell as player 3 ,4 game screen etc.    I figure it will basically mean duplicating player 1 and 2 parts and adding them on to the rom as player 3 ,4 .But this is way beyond my skills especially since the rom appears to use compression.

Hi Mario ,

hmmm I would like to help but I can't be sure that the rom hacks wouldn't fall into the wrong hands -namely a sore-loser scum bag by the name of Lucas Ferreira of Brazil ...

Did you tell him about this thread because he came sucking up asking for more hacks?!! this ,only after he claimed that it is cheating to use hacks !! ,AND it is not even possible to use rom hacks on zbattle if both players dont have the hack .  it was all just because he can't handle losing.

Anyway ,lets get to work trying to make RRR 4 player capable.

Hey there Hawk good work so far.

It's strange I was just away to have a play around with RnRR when I noticed this post. Was planning on getting unlimited weapons since it doesn't seem that hard but I guess it doesn't matter now since you've already done it Smiley

What are you editing is it the actual ROM or save states?
