Oh, so it wasn't ever planned to allow uploading of hacks directly into the database? It shouldn't be to much of a problem, if it isn't approved you could simply remove it.

If we would allow direct uploads without approval the database would be a total mess in two weeks of time, I can assure you that

But otherwise, I use geocities. There's really no reason to use Geocities for web sites anymore, Google Pages gives you 100MB of space plus you get no ads on your site at all. They've improved a lot since the last time I used'em for making my site, they're pretty good to use.

Well my patch is an improvement patch, not technically "complete", so maybe that's why I was asked to link rather than upload. But all's good now. Of course I have to rely on imageshack for screenshots, but whatever.
Has anybody tried the hack out yet?

Maybe you should set up some kinda autoexpire for hosting of zip files. That and create a maximum size cap. I already suggested that once, NC didn't like the idea.

What's taking up so much space? Rom hacks are generally not that large. Perhaps it's all the utilities that are taking up all the space.
Anyway, how can this place be the new centre of rom hacking, if it can't archive a whole lot?
But yeah, it's good they put the foot down on crappy sprite hacks or low quality hacks. Also maybe some hacks should only be admitted after being reviewed by a panel of judges to test for quality.
How about a hack grade system? Out of somthing like 5 stars could be awarded to hacks and utilities to ensure that people know they are getting quality.
Crap, I found a bug. It really doesn't affect gameplay much, but it does look ugly.

Ugh... Jesus.. BOARD ATTACHMENTS DO NOT EQUAL SITE ARCHIVE FILES.
That's it. I've had it. I'm killing board attachments altogether.

Maybe it's for the best. Wasn't the reason why files need a URL is because of security reasons?
Either way I need to update my patch. Maybe I should give my game a fatal flaw or make it so hard that people will give my ego--er, I mean topic a boost?

Yes. URL's are used mainly for security purposes. I'm really not sure where the miscommunication has occurred here. We're not limited in what we can archive. Well, we could hit the limits on our server space, but we're nowhere near that yet. The limit was on board attachment space. I just am not interested in devoting an ever growing amount of space for that purpose for a variety of reasons I don't think we need to get into. The board attachment space don't affect our database or archive abilities in any way. It was for the forum and for the forum only. For your information, everything is taking up a good share of space.. The site's content is now currently between 1 and 2 gigs. Granted, the hacks section does take up less space as opposed to the utilities and translations section, but that's only because it's smaller. Remember, the site has many images to go along with all the files. Not to mention, the sheer number of entries. It doesn't take long to grow a large site even though most of the files are actually very small in size.

<offtopic> Speaking of images, is this one cut off at the top, or is it like that by design?
