This is true. Gideon's got the most talent out of any programmer I've ever known- and I've met quite a few in my time. He's a true legend- and honestly I hope that he understands the incredible service he has done for us all.
Hmm, actually Gideon doesn't do much programming at all from what I know, outside of assembly mods.  His strengths really lie in other areas.

- A firm grasp of romhacking concepts in both the normal and wonky games.
- Thoroughly versed in the stages of a translation from start to finish, so he can streamline it.

Of course, lots of people fit that description and never release a translation on their own.  *cough* I'm pretty close to it *cough*  But where his real strengths lie...that's what sets him apart from others.

- Strongly dedicated to relentlessly working on a multitude of games and following through on them.  Without this, the expertise he has would be nothing.
- The above quality lends itself to wanting others that don't have the energy to do a full project to help him out on projects he either couldn't do alone (translators, utilities) and saves him time to do other work.

And there you have it, my analysis.

Lol...Don't let my harsh sarcasm discourage you from venturing into rom hacking. Grin

Hey, that is a tempting idea, actually. My tax refund's coming out soon and the wife's given me free reign to do what I want with it. Paying Gideon $1500 for a translated SaGa wouldn't be a bad way to spend it.

We are not professional translators, not to mention it takes professional translators along time even with the source code for the game in hand. If you want it done either do it yourself or pay someone to do it for you, paying someone $2000 as Gemini said might get them to get it done, but probably not within 2 months

Find me a translator and I'll have it done in 2 months for that much. Grin

The time it takes to complete a project shouldn't be judged in length such as 2 months. That's ambiguous depending on personLook at the hours.

For the projects Gideon finished in 2 months, I'd bet my lunch, he put in many hours and had the time required to do it.

I could never finish a translation project in 2 months in my current living situation as 2 months equals only x amount of hours work as opposed to other people with some more time.

Two answers to that. One i am eighteen and two, if you want me to send you a copy of the game i will. Just tell me what to do, all so 1 year now i think would be the right time frame.

Methinks someone is missing the point.
