The Fire Emblem we're doing is actually Fire Emblem: Dark Dragon, and the Sword of Light, the first NES one. I'm confused as hell on how to use pointers though, and that NES pointer document doesn't help. Isn't their just anyway to expand the game, to fit more text?

Apparently, expanding an NES rom is lke walking through the Fires of Hell: You don't want to do it, and it's hard as hell because your feet are melting of something I'm not too sure of. >.>

That's the guide I was talking about that confused me. There are just a lot of things here he doesn't explain.

Couple questions off the top of my head:
- What exactly is the pointer value? Is it an offset, or is it a hex code?
- What if you have more than 5 digits in your offset? Do you still break down to 4 digits?
- How exactly will pointers help me insert more text? WILL pointers help me insert more text? If not, I don't really care for them.

Before I go on to everything else, I have to understand these things.

1. The pointer is a hex value.
2. For the NES, yes it's 4 digits (2 bytes) and will always be in the range of 8000 - FFFF.
3. That's actually covered on the 4th page of that doc. You did read it all, right?
